The problem with the carriers is you HAVE to get close to the target to use the LVT's other wise I agree they should stay further offshore:cool:

They need to toughen up the ships. Make it so it takes a huge amount of damage to sink it

If you toughen up ships and bases you will just end up with  furballs that will go on forever.

My tactic:  B26's, 8K, 4 1000lbs or 8 500lbs ordinance (x3), 265mph TAS with doors open, and much practice eyeballing CV turns.  Works unless there's a high cap over CV, which is very seldom the case.

Who is going to drive an LVT . . .

15 miles to the beach? I like the CV the way it is. If you REALLY want to change something, give CV commander the ability to restrict flight operations and LVT launches. Then the guys manning the guns could get the town down before some fool ups and makes the base flash. A lot of CV's are sunk before a shot is fired at the town. That's the crew screaming for help they wouldn't even need if they'd killed the town first. At that point, they need all the gunners and fighters they can get just to defend the boat --  they don't have the numbers to kill the town.

It seems to me every time I hop on a CV to see what's going on, a huge fight is building and the town hasn't been touched. Some guy is always swinging the 8" gun around shooting at God only knows what. If you ask them if they need help targeting the gun, they don't answer.

Giving 100% control of a CV (including the ability to restrict flights) is giving someone else the ability to control how I want to play my game. If you want to be a little arm chair general, find a bunch of players who don't wipe their bellybutton unless told to do so, and tell them what to do. Otherwise, keep your restrictions to yourself.

You people need to understand. Not everyone cares about killing the town and taking a stupid base. A CV close to shore for me means a a short flight time to a fight. And usually also means alot of fights. It doesnt mean time to straffe down the town because and LVT is parked inside it.

  I agree,
I read about WW2, level bombing on CVs/ships, was very, very ineficient, that"s why they used divebombers and torpedo-bomber,
Here with this new super precise laser guided bombing i got many times 2 CVs in 1 sortie,
Is hard to hit the CVs if LYNX or Whels is onborad  not other drunk captains,  they know how, and when  to turn it,
Also i bombed a CV last year for test ,with small bombs in B26s, i got most of acs and 5'' guns, after we vulched it until it sunk

Sinking CV is almost automatic no matter what the alt. You can get a guy who is on the ball to turn it but most times its very ez.

Here is what I do.

And to really screw up a guy that thinks hes gonna get all tricky and turn at the last second, drop one bomb early enough so he hears it coming, and starts his turn. From that alt he cant tell what u see in your sight. And he thinks the bombs are otw. When he commits the turn, anticipate and lead.

CV too hard = horde vulch can't be broken
CV has too much ack = attackers won't leave the safety of the nest
CV requires 10 torp hits to sink = endless volleys of torps from PTs teleporting to the fight, aided by endless waves of suicidal Ju88s

I'd like to see the distance CVs must maintain from shore increased slightly so that the AA guns can't vulch. You'd probably have to also slightly increase the range from which LVTs spawn. As a bonus, that might end the phenomenon of LVTs spawning inland.

Restricted flight ops could be the second worst idea ever, following banning those who've progressed past hordeCTF gameplay to another arena.

I think the CVs are about perfect as they are.

If you get people to man the guns and defend, its pretty darn lethal to haul a bomber over it.  I dont recall whose the guy who keeps getting me in my P-38...but man, he's about as lethal as an LTAR in an Ostwind.

If a CV is adequately staffed, its an amazing battle to weaken that thing AND the accompanying fleet.  If its left alone, its a fairly easy topic...much as you'd expect.

Artificially hardening it or softening it would be a bad idea.

Heck, count your blessings the "listing" effect hasnt been added for when its taking on water...that would eliminate aircraft able to spawn

Beach the CV on the runway of the enemy field and start vulching from the ship guns.

I'd just hide the CV somewhere safe.
