Joystick misbehaving (X52)
« Reply #15 on: May 03, 2006, 08:07:54 AM »
Sounds like the problem I had with my x45. I'm always messing with my settings/configuration, so I dont know just how I got the problem or exactly how I fixed it. I think this might help anyway. I had the same thing. hard rudder input I just couldnt get rid of. Check your keypad inputs against your stick set inputs for conflicts of any buttons you have set for rudder trim control. I'm using the 90-180 ticks on  the top hat on my stick for rudder trim. I believe this can only be set in stick mapping, and nowhere else. Making sure you dont have any redundant mapping in any other mapping screens might solve you problem. Good luck

Check in AH if the last slider in joystick config is at 100%

which deleted all mappings. I was able to start fresh. It still doesnt work. Looks like another weekend coming up and no AHII. If I ordered a CH set today it couldn't be here in time. I'm really leery of expensive joysticks at the moment. What if I get it and it doesnt work? I don't want to be stuck w/ several hundred dollars worth of joysticks that dont work in the game.

shining, if you mentioned this already, I didn't see it, so I apologize if asking something you already answered...

If you are in windows, and go into start->control panel->game controllers and then properties on your X52. Does the joystick look like it's acting fine in there? Move the stick around and watch the + on the X and Y axis, as well as the Z and throttle... make sure it moves pretty smoothly without a lot of huge jumps.
If everything looks good in there, then in AH, when you're in the "Stick Setup", make sure all 10 sliders for roll, pitch, and rudder on the left hand side are at 100% (the top). Seems like an odd thing, but my X52 had a LOT of bounce when trying to move until I did that, and now it's much much easier to use.
If everything does NOT look good in that game controllers panel, then my though is maybe your USB port has a problem of some kind. I'm not sure if the X52 is USB2.0 or USB1.1, but that could make a difference. Perhaps try different USB ports, or see if your motherboard has updated USB drivers.

Just some thoughts and again, sorry if any of it is a repeat.

I have both onboard usb and a new PCI card. I also bought a powered USB hub. I ave tried every combination of these items. Atfirst, when I connected the hub to the pci card and the X52 to the hub it seemed to work ok. I played for about an hour or two. The very next day, when I went in game, it started acting up again, in the same manner as before. I'm not going to buy a more expensive joystick in the hope that it may work. If I can't solve this I'm going to go back to a $30 stick and us it till it breaks, then buy another one. Its really irks me too.  I've used a X45 and X52 for so long now that not having all of those controls at my finger tuips is going to really bite.
