I kinda dig 'em, myself. Loved the ridiculously oversided exclamation mark he used a while ago. No big deal.

The guy is good. The crowd was uptight.

I remember when he was the "Mr Goodwrench" guy.

Thought his bit at the WH was funny until he went "SNL" ( stretch a boring skit) with his "interview.

I watched the clip... I actually didn't like it to much.

It offended me somehow.

I'm not even Republican.... and I still thought it was ... wrong.

It showed a complete lack of respect for the President...

It just seemed way over the top.

I suppose it must've been... but for me it didn't quite seem to hit "satire" so much as it seemed to be him insulting the President.

Didn't even really seem like he was trying to be funny (and yes, I'm familiar with a 'dry' sense of humor) so much as he was just up there ranting.

Agreed. The impersonator was by light years better
He had a couple decent moments but most of it was poorly done.
Colbert seems to do better when hes doing an interview style stuff.
When he has someone directly to interact with.

That night he was mostly stupid with a couple chuckles thrown in

Disagree.

It was Colbert owning the joint, as usual.

The only question in my mind is what these folks thought they were signing up for when they hired him in the first place.

Ya get what ya pay for, and Colbert delivered on time and under budget.

Damn it was teh funnay.

Untill you just made that statement.
Reguardless of what difference of opinions we may have had in the past I had always thought you were a pretty intellegent person.

You take up smoking crack or something?

Are you smoking crack? He lambasted those very same "media types" (<---lol) that you expected a hearty chuckle from, as well.

This Week in God and The Word are two of Colbert's golden bits and both of them are monologues. He does do a primo interview, tho.

The whole thing is you have to understand the selfrightious, dimwited, prima donna character he plays. That night it struck a little too close to home, even for a roast. Kuddos to the president for taking the shellacking, as is traditional, and not turning the event into milktoast.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

That's probably what's gettin' people's backs up here. These jokes are practically routine now, and the only difference last Saturday was that dear leader finally had to sit through it in person.

I get a kick out of the fact that all of prezznit's speaking engagements are highly screened and choreographed events.... and Colbert's schtick was the first time that the Decider had to sit there and lump it. It multiplied the comedy factor.

Anyone remember Conan Obrien's schtick a few years ago? It was more embarrasing than funny, too.
