I don't think he was all that funny.  He had some good ones but didn't really deliver.

Colbert is sharp as a tack. Unfortunately the audience was suffering from anal retention syndrome and did'nt appreciate the humor.

An example of one of his jokes:
"I'm glad to see so many Generals and members of our military here tonight in support of the president."
(Big round of applause)

"I see you have'nt retired yet"
(crickets chirping)

And that's tonight's word.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

It was funny at times, and  painfully bad at others.

small file

big quicktime file

Yeah, the anal retention syndrome of the audience took all the fun out of Colbert's genius.  He didn't exactly cater to his audience.

That's what the corispondence dinner IS you dolt.  It's where the current administration invites the press there and then makes fun of itself in a roast style.

I thought some of his stuff was funny but it just didn't have a whole lot of bite to it.  The Bush impersonater was funnier.

True that, I noticed that as well.

Deb,

Do a google on the presidential corispondence dinner and educate yourself.  Almost anything goes there in the style of a roast.

The term Press is usually associated with the media NOT and abreviation of President.
