I have a question re: views for all you TrackIR experts:

Before i got TrackIR, I had my rear view set to look over and to the side of the armorplate/headrest in the P-51D (for example).
Now, with TIR, when I look to the rear, it's like my face is right up against the headrest and I can't see around it.  If I do  a few contortions, wiggle to the side a little, etc., I can eventually get to where I can see around it, but it takes a long time.
Is there some type of setting I need to change to be able to seee easily to the rear?

Also, I notice my forward views keep switching between where I had them set, and what I assume are the default views.  FOr example, I usually have my gunsight view set so the pipper is just below the top of the glass, but the TIR keeps switching between that view, and the one where the gunsite is centered in the glass.

I really like it - no problems with nausea like others have mentioned, but I'd like to get the view problem straightened out.  And yes, I am using the Speed55's profile.

Thanks for any help in advance!

SK John,

What you do is when you first get into the plane, lean forward and down and then recenter IR .  Then sit back up normally.  Now on each plane you will find a different "point" where this works best, but it works in all.

Basically what you have done is put your self in the highest seat position and near the "back" of the cockpit when sitting normally. So now when you look back behind the seat you can look above and around it because your essentially where your saved views were looking from.

You may need to make the "back" axis more aggressive so you can quickly slap you virtual head to the far back position.

Then when your ready to shoot, you simply lean down and forward to gain the site picture.

Hope that helps.

Mine is going back tomorrow , I got the RMA # and all setup .

I just coundn't get used to it , always turned it off when I got into combat . I guess I just got to set in my ways using my hat views .

Also to any that have bi-focal glasses , this is not the best setup you . I had a problem with tipping my head up to see better and having my "view" look up when I didn't want it to .

That said I had a friend try this first weekend I got it , he has never learned to use the hat views correctly and he really liked Track IR alot .

Balsy,
I tried what you suggested, but it diddn't work right for me.  I'll have to experiment with the placement more...
THanks for the suggestion!
