My best guess for no execution is that there were no plausible overt acts deliberately made by him that directly caused a loss of life. Had there been anything that showed he was directly responsible for any deaths then he might have gotten the death penalty.

Frankly I think it was the correct decision in this case.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

One more question. For those of you that are not from the U.S.A. What do you think of the situation? and verdict?

It would have been more emotionally satisfying to see him get dead.

I got the impression that the outcome he prayed for was to be executed, so he could be a glorious martyr and get 72 virgins in heaven.

Now, he gets to spend the rest of his twisted life as a captive of those he hates most in the world, and now he's no martyr...just a loser.

I hope the sentence leaves him suffering, broken and miserable.  His mother must be so proud.

I bet he will be in solitary for the rest of his life just for that reason.

Not much to discuss. Good call on the life sentence I guess... and nothing but American Idol and the likes in his cell.

It's fair, and smarter than making him a martyr.

Life in jail is a punishment for him, death wouldn't have been. I wonder why people are dissapointed about that. They wanted to punish him, right?
Besides, he's going to have many not so merry friends in jail (It'd be amazing if his mates doesn't kill him) :D

Somehow he will be killed in prison and the person who does it will be pardoned and then it will be a footnote on the daily news one evening.
