Lately my computer has been startin to hate me. My framerates keep droping and rising every minute or two and the guys im flying against i feel really kinda bad for, tryin to hit a target thats zoomin allover the place. My framerates usually hang at a steady 70 but sometimes when flyin over the water it will hit 90 and even go into 123 framerates. I dunno what a good framerate is, someone help me. Also, my framerates are really screwed up in the da and ta. I have a Nvida 7800 graph card (dont ask how i got it, its a long story) if that has any affect on it. Thanks for your help.

what are your system specs?
what power supply do you have?

I recently purchased an evga 7800 and found out my power supply doesn't provide the amperage it needs on the 12volt rail.

Do you have dual rails? I believe the amperage rating is cumulative - EX. I have two 19Amp, 12V rails on my Antec Tru-powerII. That equals 38Amps & the card I have requires something like 24-26Amps heavy load. My card works fine.

Ok, I have no clue what this means but my power supply is an antec neo he 500. Its my bro's suped up comp, not mine. No clue what else is on here. Got a comcast internet connection with a 50ft cable. Ok thats all I know, someone please help.

That is a good video card, but I have no idea what drivers you are using, what CPU you have, how much memory your computer has, or anything else. Could be alot of things.

First thing that comes to mind with frame rates that crazy is Vertical sync setting on the video card being off. Could also be you're overloading your memory or CPU or you have the wrong drivers (or bad ones), or a half a dozen other things.

Ok, ive been askin around, the comp is an HP. It has 1 Gig of memory and has a 250 GB hard drive. If it is vertical sync how do I fix it?

HP helps. It tells me you probably have way too many things running in the background while you are trying to play. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and click on the Processes tab. If you have more than say 25 or so running, you are probably going to have problems. Maybe not, but its a good bet.

Once you start Aces High, and the first clipboard comes up where you tell it to go Online or Offline, click on Video Setup. What is your Max Texture size? If it's at 1024, turn it down for sure. I'd put it at 256 for now, you can always increase it later if you get your comp stable. You certainly dont want it over 512. Also, look to make sure you arent preloading anything into memory, and dont allow it to download skins in the background. Close Aces High.

Right click on your desktop, select Properties. When the window pops up, select the tab on the far right, Settings. Click the button on the lower right that says Advanced. The top right tab of the new window should be your video card, Geforce 7800. A window will also pop out to the left. On it, select Performance and Quality Settings. To the right, in the middle of the window, find the setting Antialiasing and set it to Application Preference. Do the same for Anisotropic Filtering. Vertical Sync should be ON. Image Settings should be at High Performance. Hit the Apply button and close out those windows with OK.

Restart Aces High and see if you have those problems. Assuming everything is good, you can start increasing eye candy settings until you notice a performance hit. Find the best balance for you.

If there is no help here, Click on the Start button, select Run and type dxdiag into the dialog box. Hit Enter. When the Direct X diagnostic program starts, run the tests for video and sound and go to the last tab. There is an option to save a copy of the report. Do so, save it to your desktop where it's easy to find. Open it, highlight all the text and copy it. Then write an email to Skuzzy at support@hitechcreations.com and paste the dxdiagnostic info into the email. You may have driver issues that need addressing, Skuzzy can help you with it.

google FS autostart if you have process issues....however my compaq "box o crap" has XPMC with 55 processes running and cranks ~140 fps average (7900GT). Now, the problem I had was that the compaq reloads the native drivers causing conflicts that not only hammer framerate (60% drop) but also hose my internet connection somehow. Whats funny is that it makes littel difference in benchmarks or games like call of duty 2....but is major in AH. I'd also suggest googling NFR (nasty file remover)....a great utility that will detect any leftover drivers and delete them.....
