Possiible Laptop selection
« on: May 05, 2006, 08:22:45 PM »
Yea yea I know its an HP

But with Laptops I've been running into as many HP loyalists as HP haters.

Two questions.

1- Overall anygood?

2- How Well will it run AH specifically as well as other games?

This is for my Kid for College.
I know that for general college needs I could get away with a much less expencive laptop.

But I want him to be able to do other stuff  and have fun with it as well.
Watch movies,Burn Cd's, Play Games etc.
He's earned it

Once we get him one I plan on opening a second AH account so we can fly together at the same time.
He plays now under my handle on and off and he aint too bad neither.

Just think, you can have two of me running around the MA :D

Here's mine:
http://www.pcclub.com/product_system_details.cfm?itemno=ENP61104

15" WXGA, 128M6600go, i915 chipset, cd/dvd-r.. $999 (I paid dam near $1500 6 months ago). Its a vanilla book manufactured by Quanta.

MXM upgradable graphics, P-M up to 2.6, PC club can even install a new core duo mobo / cpu.. the 6600go overclocks great, runs AH, BF2, Allied Force..

The 2-ch high definition sound is ok, but not that great for watching movies at home, I added a $79 Turtle Beach Roadie and some Saitek 2 ch speakers for entertaining on the go.

Battery life on power saving is outstanding, it wasn't loaded with bloat... all the extra crappy stuff came on separate CD's. PC club also included a Xandros (Linux) cd, which it runs with no problem.

I couldn't be happier, like a pig in poop.
