just cruising google maps on lunch, looking for the "london eye" because there was some news story and i'd never heard of it...

anyway WTF is that monstrosity? that thing is HUGE i mean it looks a bit bigger then the pentagon.

its the cruiser HMS Belfast, played a big part in the sinking of the Scharnhorst.

North East of the Belfast, the castle looking thing, is the Tower of London, the bridge east is Tower Bridge.

Heres my divisions ship. THe U.S.S. Sullivans. Its a destroyer. (The smaller ship NE of the larger one) The ship thats North of the U.S.S. Little Rock (Cruiser) is the U.S.S. Croaker (A Submarine)

Anyone know what this is?

thats north greenwich station.

bigger mystery look across the river to the left. check out the upper docks and follow that channel up and to the left. see the big ships now look where that connects to the river how do those big ships get in and out of there?

Thats the Isle of Dogs.  The thing above that looks like the pyramid is the top of Canary Wharf, London's highest building.




Did you notice City Airport NE of the dome?  slightly to the left, over that dock, is a raised bridge (Royal Victoria Dock Bridge).  it is fantastic to stand at the top and see the planes come over your head on finals, the whole area around there is fantastic.

BlueJ, As a guess the unidentifed sunken ship looks to me like an old battleship.. Pennsylvania or Texas class maybe.. the big gun-tub amidships was a fairly standard feature on Heavy Cruisers and BB's built prior to WWII.
