Online doesn't mean ugly
« on: May 10, 2000, 12:09:00 PM »
Earlier today my brother-in-law WERT was flying, He got into a row over what would best help the knights, and got angry enough to bail, die, and log.
People no one gave anybody a right to be the boss here, people play (operative word play)
for different reasons, there are some things the community in general does not approve of, and that's acceptable, but getting into a heat because somebody doesn't feel like taking orders is not. Wert is military, so am I, we take enough orders in real life to want to avoid it in our play time. You should respect that, we respect things other people want, even if we don't agree with them. You are most definitly not going to change our minds, or anybody else's for that matter, by being ugly.
take care all, and engage brain before opening mouth.

Hmmm I don't see it that way.

For me it's like a pick-up basketball game.  If one of the guys on my team starts picking his nose instead of defending his man, I'm going to let him hear about it.

In a Historical Scenario, sure it's ok to jump on someone for not doing what he's supposed to do. That's the whole point of scenarios ... structured just like in real life.

In the Main Arena, only 1 rule applies: Have Fun!! If I want to hunt buffs all night, that's what I'm going to do and I shouldn't have to feel guilty or be berated by someone because I'm not doing what they want me to do. If I'm in a squad, sure that's another story, but if I'm solo don't automatically expect me to be a part of what you've decided to do.

Have Fun!!! .... nuff said.

I've only had one guy badger me about participation one day that I had time for "a quick fix" (15-20 min sortie)...I simply thanked him for the invitation to help Knights out, but I was limited to my online time, he again badgered myself and everyone not helping him, and I politely asked  if he was paying my monthly bill...he stopped badgering everyone, whined alittle more, then changed countries, and we enjoyed killing him from that point on.

Out of something bad, ALWAYS comes something good!

Funked, I own the bat and ball, so if you don't play along with me, I'll walk home. WAAAH

Naw, seriously though. Some days one wants to be a lone wolf, others one wants to be part of a team. I pay $30 a month and that gives me the right to do whatever I want, be it killshoot myself to death all the time (and where the HELL did you come from hristos, my 0mm's ripped me up good!)

once again,

"shut up and fly..."

or as we bastards say, "pass the wings fattass!!"

hell, we have enough trouble getting our own squad to follow orders...."what order?"..."i thought you meant order of wings!"  We fly to have a good time, if we want to be organized we will (attempt that is). I don't think ANYONE should berate or yell at anyone else becuase they didn't want to participate in the orders at hand. Key word is participation...if you want to you will, if not, then leave the orders for those who want to follow them. If someone asks, thats just it, they "asked" you to play, NEVER means you have too!

I left bishops for the knights BECAUSE they have organization. Nothing is more frustrating then watching 30 of your countrymen all fly fighters to vulch some poor defenseless field, while no one flies a c47. Meanwhile, all the fields near your HQ get captured   Saw this one too many times with bish.

I used to argue with some of these guys that would yell and scream at you cause you wouldn't follow their orders but soon learned it wasn't worth the wear and tear on my keyboard trying to tell them to shut up.

I now squelch the guys who rant and rave about not following their orders.

1. Click online.
2. Type .squelch 1
When the squeakin' starts, type .squelch xxxx (xxxx=squeaker)
Thats what I really like about JG2. They understand that sometime you just want to lone wolf it.

Don't really agree funked. People can ask me, (more often then not when I log on I ask where the Knights need help), but the moment someone starts telling me what to do I ignore them. I am there to have fun and to do as I please. I am not there to cow to a self proclaimed General. Of course this hold true to the Main. Special Events have rules that should be respected.

Your right Mighty, it is not worth the effort to argue with them. Squelch is the key for those that will not leave you alone.

Ignore em WERT.

I'm with the anarchist crowd: It's my money & my nose and I'll stand around picking it if that's what I want to do.  My default response to unsolicited 'orders' is to simply ignore them lest I encourage future instances of the same.   If this annoys some wannabe general, that’s just icing on my $30 slice of cake.  On the other hand, I'm generally receptive to most things when ASKED.   When I do choose to participate in coordinated activities, I appreciate it when others [politely] inform me what role they think I may best fill or (afterwards) what they might have done differently.

Last night in a nice fighter furball South of A33.  Someone called that A7 was having a hard time and asked for help. With the skies clear of enemy fighters, I promptly ditched (captured) and then went to field A7.

MY wingie Ygsmilo even followed me!!  Talk about a faithful wingman!!      When I logged A7 was intact and good shape.

The person who called for help didn't whine or complain but asked for help. I got there ASAP.

It turned out to be quite fun!!  Ended up with 2 air-to-air kills (ME109 and F4U), 2 kills from a M16 (B26 and P38), and 1 assist with 1 death!  BONUS!

BTW, that is really, really good for me so don't laugh!!    .
