The street outside the office is closed at the moment, Glasgow City Fire Department is laying a wreath at the firemans memorial outside Central Station. (I have mentioned him before, see my earlier post from Scotland for a bit more about him if you like).
The ceremony will be followed by a short service. They are honouring New Yorks fireman who lost their lives so tragically. The news satellite dishes are up, local TV I think. I don't know if any pictures will make it across the water or not, I just thought you would like to know about this.

Thanks Achttag.. and the City thanks The Scotts.

We've seen a tremendous outpouring of help and hope from FD's all across the nation... and the world.

Sunday, a FD Crew from Detroit walked into the city... all the way from Detroit. They were recieved like the hero's they were. Another FD sent us a new engine.. one of may being donated to replace those destroyed from the companys that responded first.

We're diggin out, were commin back. Ain't nothin gonna hold down NY, nothin. We're damn thankful for all the help, and really appreciate your thoughts and kind words.

Bless yah all!

Nope Udie.. just a citizen; living out on Long Island, with a lotta NYC firefighters and NYC police. Out here is where they live and raise their kids... they are our neighbors, and in the case of Engine 2... my personal friends.

We had our big annual Firemans beach party on Fire Island the weekend before the tragedy.. I was proud and happy to be ferrying Firefighters to and from the beach with their familes all that weekend. When the photos came back we were dumbstruck. Almost 1/3 of them perished in the disaster.

Immediately after tower 2 fell; my girlfriend (a nurse) and I rounded up the wives of several Engine 2 crewmen and headed right into the city and got a suite set up at the Franklin Hotel.. turned into the 'crisis center' for the wives, and I remained in the city thru Thursday helping with the relief effort. Thursday thru saturday I helped the local engine companys out here on the island transport relief and support materials (boots, socks, gloves, buckets, batteries, masks, etc) into the crews working at ground zero.

No.. I ain't a firefighter... just a citizen of NY, a resident of The Island, and a friend of some who are our heros.

Well thanks for helping out!  I'm sure their families really apreciate it.  Next time you talk to a fire fighter up there, tell em that this Texan thanks them for their efforts and for the morale boost they have given the country.

It was good to see that there are lots of real men left in this country!
