Looking to buy Joystick
« on: May 17, 2006, 07:25:12 PM »
My old TM Fox2 has finally died on me..  If anyone is selling, or looking to get rid of their old joystick ..  Instead of me buying it from some unreliable online store, I'd purchase it off of one of you gentleman.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated ;)

My email addy is bolt_stang@yahoo.com

Are you WildThing from old GEnie Air Warrior days?  If so, howdy, as I had many fights with you when I was first learning.

I like CH Flightsticks the best.  You can get them from reliable places online, like amazon.com (on sale for $76 currently).

If money is an object you can buy an X45 reconditioned from Saitex for $39.95. I owned one for a while and it's a decent setup. My only gripe with it was the stick centering system. Others have said they don't have an issue with it. Otherwise I really liked it. (I have a full CH setup now but that's expensive)

And wow, did realize they were selling these either.

A little pricey but kinda cool.

All Saiteks I think use the same big-spring-in-the-middle centering system. I found the forces too high on my EVO so I used a couple of cable ties to compress the spring in a couple places to reduce the force. Now it's nice and light, I assume the same would work for the X45.

I've been thinking about getting a X45 just for the rudder-rocker on the throttle thingy. I hate twisty-sticks, but I also don't feel like dragging out pedals and all that every time I want to play.

The best joystick anyone can ever buy and they are brand new in the box.

I have had mine for over 5 years and it still works like brand new.

Yes it does. My gripe with it wasn't so much that it was a heavy spring. The spring will weaken the more you use it.  I have an old, very severe, injury to my right elbow that a heavy spring will fatique my arm way to much. The X45 really didn't bother me that much. What I didn't like about it was that it had a distinct drop into the centering "cup" at the center of the stick movement. Think of how your car feels when you hit a pot hole. I made several modifications to mine to try and fix it but was never able to get it to feel right to me.

One of the reasons I went with a CH fighter stick is that is has some of the lightest springs of any joystick I've tried.

The throttle rocker is nice and take some getting used to. I broke the spring on mine and because Saitek will not sell parts I had to jury rig a new one. I'm sure they've made improvements to the X45 since I had mine.

My pedals never move from under my desk. But I really only use my game PC for AH so it's not and issue.

Get some velcro. They sell the strips with tape on the bottom that you can cut to size. I couldn't stand having the stick or throttle sliding across the desk eveytime i was trying to evade, or setting up a snap shot. :aok

oh my another one

Another in the box panther dx stick .... (the XL version is highly sought after for fps games and the dx is bought up for its digital interface board for modding simpits ect  )

talk someone outta there old analog ch peds and ya got it made .(or use 3 of the buttons for rudder )
they sold for 80 bucks new FYI ... the pots are same a ch and they have a nice feel /thumb reach (none of that streaching for the hat) it reconizes right up in w2k/xp you just have to manually map all buttons in AH from scratch .

I looked for over a yr for my new one.

theres also alot of
TM fox 2's

beshure you check the users ratings carefully as for ive been robbed 2 times trying to upgrade to ch (i finally gave up and made my own pedals ..long story)
