I know that AH is a flight game. I like to fly and do the GV thing. When a tank town location is included in a map, could it be surrounded by high mountains. I mean 50 K mountains. Mountains that would require a space shuttle to get over. The tank guys can have a good time, free of flying rats. The air guys would have the rest of the world to dogfight in or bomb.
What about these ideas:
1. Have only certain close support aircraft in the bases inside the area of tank town. Shorter runways with difficult takeoff/landings that the large Bombers nedotiate only with extreme difficulty, if ast all (stops folks form rearming there and taking back off). That would be the Ju87, the SBD, the Val, Kate, Il-2, etc. and a couple 2nd Tier only fighters, if any (P-40? Am2?) to get them some action. I can hear the whines now (The P-47/Typhoon was the close support AC, so was teh F4U blah blah blah . . .) tough. The point is to get the Hangar Queens into action without overburdening tank town with Lancs and 24s divebombing in threes.
2. Model the US M3 Grant/Lee as it was the chasis for the M31B2 Tank Recovery Vehicle for Tank Recovery and Repair. You need one of those to now repair tanks but M3 Halftracks can resupply. Give anyone recovering a tank good enough perks ot make it worth their time. After being repaired, you start at the respawn point--not where you were when you were "recovered".
3. Leave the usual mountains, if someone wants to spend an hour climbing in a Lanc to get there, let them but let their be enough fighter support to eliminate them when they get there (see #2 above).
