New Hydrogen Breakthrough?
« on: May 23, 2006, 12:23:03 PM »
I just watched a video on CNN.com that showed a new hydrogen technology development that looked really cool.  Definately worth taking a look at. Anyone see this?

I guess its some sort of new gas they call aquagen..

Hydrogen is not an energy resource.  Like a battery, it is only a storage medium.

It takes more energy to break the water molecule than burning the hydrogen gets back.  This is a fundamental property of water and the reason it is such a stable compound.

If one separates hydrogen from natural gas or some other hydrocarbon, from an energy use standpoint, it would be more efficient just to burn the hydrocarbon.

In order to go to a hydrogen based energy system we need to build dams, nuclear plants, solar and wind, tidal, waves, etc. to get the energy in the first place to make the hydrogen.

There you go using science and common sense...you just don't get it do you.

Did you watch the video on cnn? Most people already know this, but its using a combination of aquagen and existing energy sources.. It seems like a setpping stone if nothing else, but quite interesting

I watched a video where the guy converted his '96 pinto to run as a hybrib hydrogen-gasoline. Said it used about 4 oz. water in 100 miles, but didn't say how much gasoline it used. Is that the same video you guys are talking about?

Yeah, that's teh same video I saw. In the piece he said his pinto used 4 oz. water in 100 miles, but didn't say how much gasoline it used. aaahhhhhh...I don't know, you detractors...looks promising to me, but I admit I know nothing about the physics involved in the process. But I do know one thing: when I think of hydrogen I think of

This is not new and has been invented by several people, in one form or another.  The latest being some guy from Colorado who claims his Honda runs on water and breaks down the water, in real time, to run the car.  No gasoline needed.
He claims it gets a couple hundred miles per gallon of water, and the exhaust contains nothing harmful to the environment.
