A little different scenario here. The natural saltwater comes from the zone, is carried to the surface by the gas and siphoned off into storage tanks. They then pump it back down into the zone at a disposal well. It's not like freshwater is being used and contaminated.

Now during the drilling process, it does require lots of water for lubrication and circulation but they usually buy water from landowners with ponds. It's illegal to pump water out of a stream in Texas. The state owns all the surface water in lakes and rivers. It's a $10,000 a day fine.

One of my neighbors was accused of pumping out of a creek to irrigate his crops during a drought and was fined by the state. He appealed and won when they introduced a video tape of him driving his pickup down the dry creek bed that ran thru his property.

Where's the oil check to pay for the invasion? Remember that one?

Move down under, we have thousands of miles of bugger all, and only about 20 million people, 95% of which are all packed along the east coast.(mostly because the rest of Aus is just one big Texas style desert)
English is our national language, and climate wise it should be a simple matter to match Texas.
We allso have great beaches, good beers, excellant wines and a laid back enough lifestyle to enjoy them all, cheap real estate too.
There are even natural gas and oil fields here, so you could continue in the same 'job'.
US\AUS emmigration is one of the less complex moves ( I think both countries are cool with dual citizenship even, I have a sister who recently became an American citizen, and Im pretty sure that didnt involve losing her Aussie citizenship)
Politically, millitarily, and to a lesser extent, ecconomically, we are firmly tied to the USA and are wellcoming to her people.

Its an awefull long way to move, but it may have it's up sides.

Not a bad suggestion. I considered it in the 70's. There was a company recruiting drivers to pull roadtrains. They had a 3 year deal that was pretty sweet.

I'd love to learn to surf and there's no better place better. I hear Aussie women are nice as well.:aok

What are land prices like?

austrailia allways sounded kind of good to me..... nice big empty country with rugged individuals.

I could even stand the queen being on my money and driving on the wrong side of the road because australia has a great tradition of hot rodders and V8 cars... the gas costs too much because of socialism but... not the end of the world.

nope... the real problem came when they gave up their firearms rights.  I can't begin to tell you how much that changed my opinion of australia and its people...  I suddenly realized that australia was..... just another british country.

I couldn't agree more, as America slipped into the well of socialism & liberalism I thought the wide open freedom of Australia could be the right choice for a move, good people, english language...basically all the good points mentioned above & then they went & threw all that greatness & freedom away with that willy-nilly gun ban.

At least they kept out the pesky "want to be a good neighbor & live away from everyone else American types" too bad they are getting all the others instead :)

RPM,

You don't have to drive the RV everyplace all the time. You get to one spot, park a while and use smaller transportation like I do with my motorcycle to go see the sights. It's great. I can go anywhere I want in the country and at the end of the day I still sleep in my own bed.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I  understand Mav. I worked highway construction for 5 years and lived out of an 28ft camper. Met a lot of people that are doing that. I'd love to trail the NASCAR circuit. It's a great way to live. There are even resorts that have RV attached homes. Those are pretty cool.

This hasn't been true since NAFTA.

Mexico is quite nice actually. Depends on where your money comes from. If you need to work there, life will be hard, but if you get a monthly check it can be very nice :)

Actually I loved living in Arizona was stationed there nine years and sometimes wonder why I came back to Texas.

RPM there is still a lot of sparsely populated land in the Texas Hill Country.
Not to mention it's beautiful.:aok

Grew up in Nebraska AND was stationed in AZ for quite some time.   Love both places except the desert just got tiresome.  I ALSO moved back to Texas and and hating life with out an auto that is without A/C.  I'd love to eventually settle in the "Great West" of montana, utah, or wyoming.
