Been Busy; Any Changes Over At WW2OL?
« on: August 27, 2001, 04:09:00 PM »
NO need for a flamefest...

For those still actually playing, just a simple question. Have they improved the load time, framerate and FM enough to make it worth another look yet?

Thx in advance.

Excellent question Toad.  I was wondering the same thing.  I seem to remember there was another patch in the works... has it come out yet?

I'm thinking about re-loading it onto my new(er) PC but wasn't really interested with the current state it was in.

Load time is improved.  Respawn is instant.
FM is much better than original release.
FPS are the same; some argue even a little worse.
For my money (I did spend the $40) it still needs some work.

Havent downloaded the patches and the last time I played, it took 15 minutes to load on my P3 550 with 384mb of RAM.  Got on field and was hit by some sorta infantry, took another 15 minutes to respawn.  In that time, I coulda been in AcesHigh, getting a Lancaster to 30,000 ft   :)

dingers assesment of the situation is quite valid

i havent touched teh game in over a month. when they get fps to be solid, and make a persistent game world itd be worth 10 bucks a month.

but getting 10 fps on a 1.2 ghz machine isnt worth the money  :)

no more CTHL or CTD's, no more purple sky bugs, no more flying panzers  ;) thats the main bugs they squelched. Also the german smg and luger works fine now.
I think they prepairing the strat thingy now.

I too am keen to hear if things get better. Any tweaks to the FM (ie the JU87 hunting spit stuff we heard about)?

Tank quake my ass. Tanks have too large effect on game but I think it will get better when spawn limits are in use ie. light tanks are more common. Also WWIIOL terrain is very suitable for tank combat, unlike in AH or WB.

Stability has improved quite a lot and load times are down. We are waiting for patch 125.

New units included will be PzKw II, Bf 110 and Blenheim. I have heard rumours of PzKw IVE, towable light flak guns and light british tank.

There are still gameplay issues that needs to be solved. Spawn limits and supply are needed badly. FM needs to be look upon too.
