Was upstairs helping with dinner or something and suddenly my son (10 year old “sondog”) yells out. It was the kind of yell (so I thought at the time) that something was seriously wrong. I headed down stairs pretty quick and he was calling my name. When I came in the room he was sitting at his computer flying online. He burst out “I shot down Tbarone, and he is ranked #1!!!”. I quickly recovered from my desire to chew him out for yelling and responded with disbelief. He assured me it was true. I came close and saw he was flying the Yak with the 37mm. He gave me a quick recount of the dance and said Tbarone’s 109 went across his nose and he hit him with the 37mm in the cockpit. I told him that was amazing because I never beat Tbarone in a fair fight.

I think he grew about 2 inches right then and there.

My son is not real excitable, but that made his week. He will not forget this for a long time. He enjoys the AvA arena at times much like I do. I tell him many of the sticks are good and give me a spanking so when he gets someone (he knows many of the regulars by call sign) he always tells me about it. I tell him don't vulch in the AvA and to give check 6 calls when ever possible.
Tbarone for giving my son a good time. He does not type much, (pretty shy) and I tell him to stay off the local range vox channel, (I don’t want him to engage some of the more colorful and expressive players) and not to talk to anyone but a squadie. Nevertheless he listens and learns all the time.
