Heh- this is a controversial topic. There is no "right thing to do". It all basically comes down to this- When does "human" life start? By that I mean self-awareness, i.e. the knowledge that YOU exist in the world.
At conception? Do two cells that merge suddenly become self aware? Or is it even before that? Is a sperm cell self-aware? Every time I masturbate, am I committing murder on a scale never seen before?
I have no doubt that most rational people would say that self-awareness, or "life", doesn't begin until well after that stage. But we don't really know for SURE when it starts.
I do agree that abortion is a shoddy way to get rid of an "unwanted" or "accidental" pregnancy. However, I also believe that a woman should have the right to an abortion, even in those cases. Thankfully, I'm a guy, and so I really don't have to worry about what I'd do in that situation.
I've heard that in a lot of cases women go through severe emotional trauma after they realize exactly what it is that they have done- perhaps women that want to get an abortion should be required to talk with one who has had it done already?
Regardless, I'll not view abortion as murder until someone can give me irrefutable evidence as to when "life" actually starts- because something has to be alive in order to be murdered.
