Whereas maps for the AvA and SEA are built to be historically accurate and playable. It takes a lot more time, effort and know-how to build these types of maps.
Everyone whining about the maps discourages some people from building a map for the MA. Why dedicate time and effort to something that will just be criticized and complained about?

Why not try a new approach, instead of whining, try motivating some map makers?
If I recall, there was a contest promoted by players to see who could have the most successful tour in a P40B and there was a prize for the winner? Why not do the same for a map. Maybe get some people into a contest, entering fee is $5. The $5 could be sent to HTC and build up a money pool. Give a 2-3 month deadline. Whomever builds the best map recieves the money (or it can go to paying for a few months subscription).
Win-Win situation, community gets a few more maps in rotation, motivation for some people to put effort into building a decent map.

Why in the world should a paying customer have to build maps.  What are we paying for:rofl

There have been some good maps over the years, both from HTC and the players. I think the players should be compensated enough to motivate them (and others) to make more. I know it's a PITA, and it seems we either have too small or too large a map up at any given point in time. Maybe some changes in guidelines and size would liven things up a bit. Perhaps allow people to revamp existing terrains could also help in that regard.

Anyway, point being, I know what a time consuming and frustrating chore it can be, and the reward should equal the effort, especially considering the burden that could be lifted off HTC by encouraging people to generate maps. Maps could be beta tested in the BUMA, we could have a little Beta forum for maps, etc. The busier we are playing with new gizmos and buttons, the less likely we are to gripe. ;)

Not his either.  If you decide you arent getting enough for your 14.95, dont pay for it.  Problem solved.  Thats how the system works.

Here's an idea, we get a price from Fester for 6 new maps over the next 12 months. Once the price is established HTC posts a MOTD asking for those so inclined if they'd kick in an extra buck for a month or so until the cost of the maps was satisfied.

Wait! Before you ask, "Whaddabout the freeloaders who don't contribute?" I thought of that too :aok  New maps are password protected...the freeloaders fly Uterus the rest of their' lives :D

Our man Flaydone has been working on a map for some time.
See here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=175027

Flayd's yet to get any response from HTC about his map.  We're all scratching our heads as to why he can't even get a response as to if his concept is good or not and if it would be considered for the MA map rotation.

Flayd's put a lot of time into it and has mastered the tempermental map editor.  At least give the man some feedback. :aok
