Change of Pace from the MA
« on: May 30, 2006, 10:04:51 PM »
Tired of the HO?   Tired of 3K Lancasters Toolshedding your fun?  Tired of looking up all the time to find a fight and it's at late war ride?

Be in the DA Saturdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy  Saturdayyyyyyyy Saturdayyyyyyyy
well not Saturday....but we started something last night in the DA.  A group of us got together (Toad, Rude, Shamus, and a Gentleman I've not had the pleasure of meeting before by the name of Mendicus, he's a great stick!  A few others showed up later.  We fought one on ones.

Rules:  Early to Mid War Aircraft only.  We started at 5K alt limits and later worked it up to ten.  Needless to say we had a blast.  What a nice change from the MA as some us have gotten to know.  We'd enjoy having more join in the fun....to pickup sides.....set the rules of engagement...4 on 4...5 on 5 whatever!  No one porking your fun......no HO's... ACM is required.

No toolshedding......no vulching......no HO's...well the aircraft type anyway.
Don't want to limit the possibilities of having fun.

If it's agreeable I'd like to propose a start time in the DA of 9PM Eastern.  Should be a good time to start....and people can trickle in as they wish.
For those of you who are new to the game it's a great place to learn the game.  Mostly Veterans of the game will be interested in this setup, and since veterans will be there one can learn a lot about ACM and SA.
(All except me....to old to learn a thing)

So come one and all if you've a mind to try something a bit different.  I know you won't earn any perkies (there goes you free trip to Hawaii Toad)
But the possibilities of having uninterupted fun would be much better in this scenario.  Might not be fun for all.....but I can guarantee it will be fun for most.

It was great fun. I plan on doing much more of it.

Good fights all the way round; you always learn something and you get tested.

No boring drilling around, there's always a fite in the offing. Nothing like two hours of premium quality dogfighting to make you remember why you signed up for AH. The thrills, the chills, the fears and tears....victory and defeat. It's all there once more.

I checked into the Free Hawaiian Vacation thing for perkies too. Called Thomas Cook and explained I wanted to cash in my perks for the 2 week Hawaiian vacation and I didn't care how many thousands or tens of thousands it cost. Suddenly, the line went dead. They must have some problem with their switchboard because it kept happening again and again. Sometimes I could barely get the work "perk" out of my mouth before the line went dead.

I'll try a different Travel Agency tomorrow. I'm sure we can get this worked out.

Was there when you fellers checked out.  I was tempted to join, but I was assaulted by a few cans of beer... resulting in a craving for melted cheese on pretzels and subsequent logoff for more beer.  Next time :)

Gianlupo I didn't mean to leave anyone out.  By all means do the same at a time convienient to you and others that may be interested.

this idea was brought forth and suggested by BatFink in an earlier Post.  I take no credit for it.  I am however seeing if more people wish to be involved.  If MA gameplay is not to your liking at the present moment this may be the answer.  DA is open 24hrs a day and HTC let's us do anything we want there.  Well..............maybe not everything.

Also......think the original Beta Terrain would be ideal for this type of gameplay in the DA.  Beta Terrain in the DA is Toads idea.  Again...as with BatFinks idea I'm just trying to drum up support.

We tried it last night and it was fun.....most of us plan to continue.

I wasn't there at Beta time, but I trust you vet. :)

Maybe we can adopt a KoTH-like formula, 2 weekly sessions, one at Friday, 8 GMT, one at Saturday, 9 EST.

After all, there were more than one fight club........ :D

I don't know if you knew this, but there is this other arena called the special events arena, and the axis vs. allies arena where early war rides are the usual.Strange how some will not leave the MA for nothing.

While the AvA is certainly a change of pace from the MA. But i wouldnt call it 1 vs 1 duellers/Furballers delight exactly. At least not in my experience.

A good furball in the AvA isnt a given, but its likely.

The A v A, because of it's very Axis v Allied nature almost always dictates that one side has the Boom and Zooms and the other the Turn and Burns. As a result I rarely see what I personally am looking for in there.

The "come one, come all, run what you brung" basic freewheeling furball.

I think having most of the plane set available adds variety. Last night the players favored the FM2, the Zeke, an early Jug, a 109F, SpitV, C202, P40 and the like. Both sides having access to all, of course.

The less "rules" the better. Basically, we just decided to fight 1 v 1 (because there weren't all that many of us), start at 5k, first merge cold nose. That was it.

If we can get more people in there we can do multi v multi and if we 20+ we can just go with Early-Mid war and a 5 or 10k ceiling and let it rock.

It sure beat the heck out of Timidinao as it was playing last night. Guaranteed good fights, no waiting, every single time.

Hey, the Doughnut map is up in the BUMA, the one with the three airfields in the center around the lake...Fightertown.

This probably IS a better choice than the DA. Fields are 5K, sloping down to the lake.

I suggest we move this to the BUMA as long as Doughnut is up in there.
