Power Supply and Mobo
« on: June 01, 2006, 01:29:07 AM »
Ok.....here's the question.  Bought a new PS with a 24Pin connector, 4 being detachable for 20Pin Mobos which I have.  The PS does not have a 4Pin (square) plug to go into the ATX, I believe it's 12V 4 Pin socket on the Mobo.

The mobo is an ASUS A8V 939 Socket....running IDE.  20Pin connection.

The question is.....is the four pin socket that is detachable from the 24 pin connector the 4 pin 12 Volt ATX that can be plugged into the 4 pin ATX socket on the Mobo?

Or do I have to purchase another PS?  The one I have is an Antec 550watt Truepower....would really like to use it.  I do have a 480watt Antec PS in the PC now with a separate 20 Pin and 4 Pin plug.

Thanks

If it happens to be...I'll have to cut open the cloth binding on the cables and resecure with cable ties...no big deal.

To answer your question : no, it's not the same

The ATX look like that (yellow and black cable)

Buy a new PSU cause if you don't plug this your mobo won't boot :D

Straffo.......just as there is a 24pin connector with 4 pins that can be detatched.............I actually found an 8 pin connector that could be detatched into a 4 pin 12V ATX connector.

It's amazing what I can find and do when I sober up!
