Yak9U vs 109G2/G6
« on: June 02, 2006, 02:00:17 AM »
This is propably the single best matchup Ive flown ever.

Today I fought propably the best fights in months if not over a year. Fought in a Yak9U vs three different pilots in 109s.

First I fought against Platan0. He was in a 109G6. Had awsome 15-20 min neck to neck duels. I mean it wasnt that long because it was BnZ. It was pure E fight all the way. Some extending but right back at it. Fantastical fights.

Then I hoped into the MA as the AvA was empty. Called out a pilot at the edge of the map. The pilot that answered was Schutt in a 109K4 this time. Once again awsome fights. First one was a bit shorter as I screwed up my massive e advantage. Second one was once again a 15 minish fight.

As I finished that fight I ran across storch in the MA so we headed back home to the AvA.

Storch upped a G2. We had two fights. These two fights took an hour (including flight to the fights). The first one we ran each other into the ground and it was relativly short. The second one I have no idea how long it lasted but storch burnt through 75% of a 109G2s fuel. ;)

What was so amazing about this fight was the veriaty of tactics used. It was still a E fight all the time. But the nature of the fight was shifting all the time. Vertical E fight, scissor fight, turn fight, reverses, long sweeping high yoyos we basicly both played out our entire arsenal of manouvers and tactics.

The fight started at 8k went down to the deck then suddenly after having been slow in the scissors at the deck we are back up at 8k fighting. None of us had extended far. Just small extentions and back rince and repeat to build up the E. Then tighten it up and down to the deck. I dont know how many times that fight shifted from 8k to the deck and back up again.

Finally I lost sight of storch as he went extreamly close to the ground. Thought he had augered and I stalled it. He hadnt. He blasted me and I went down.

To quote my gf that came into the room after the fight. "christ it looks like you have just been shaged". ;)

I dont know why you CMs have been "hiding" the 9U from us before its very well matched with the Gustavs. I would like to request that when ever we are on the east front and Gustavs get added that the 9U gets added as well.

Big to Platan0, storch and Schutt.

Lack of proper maps has kept it out of play for too long. Glad we could work her in one.:aok

And we're "Staffers" not CMs btw:D ( or Dark Lords of the Sith if you prefer)

Id prefer Clowning Muppets.. but Staffers will do.. ;)

Seriously though the Yak9T has been in alot of setups on finrus but almost never the 9U... personally I do think that the 9U could and should be added when ever we are on the east front and the Gustavs are added..

Might not be "right" timewise but imho they are so well ballanced that the exact timeline isnt that important, especially since we lack so many russian planes. If we ever get more russian planes LaGG3, Yak1/3/7/9D, Mig3 then we can go back to adding them when they should be added timewise.

Tex  awesome fight.  no I didn't film it and I'm kicking myself for not having done so. I never made it to the dojo, it was raining here and I figured I had my fight for the day, hell for the week.  Thank you sir. It's always a pleasure to fight you irrespective of the outcome.

What made my day was how you got causious about getting on my six when I dove away from your climbs.... first time ever Ive felt respect for one of my "home made" manouvers... ;)

Still cant get it out of my head that we actually managed to go from extreamly slow scissor fight at deck level to E fighting at 5k without really stoping to fight.

But then again we both wanted to get up from the deck you as the 109 climbs better and me beecause as long as I had a bit of a distance to the deck I had my dive option.

This fight was a good example of how small extentions can be extreamly valuable and how there is a huge difference between running and extending.

I totally agree that the fun of this fight had nothing to do with the outcome. Winning it wouldnt have made it more fun.

I doubt that is the real reason we don't see it more often.
Actually the 9U has been included in a few of the Fin/Rus setups over the past two years, but not many. It's easy enough to check.

Okay, opinions noted. Maybe we'll see more of the 9U in the future setups. :)

BTW, Thank You Tex! for the fights a while back, helped me a lot in the next Close Escort setup when I was flying a 190A8 (you know, the 190A8 - SpitIX/P47D11 ones we had during the European RPS). :)
