What is wrong with soccer fans?

Just have to say WTF?  If it isn't in Europe it is somewhere else.  Hell we have never had one at a major event in the US.  Well not this big at least, or as frequent.

Have you ever seen a large group of people NOT scatter when being confronted with tear gas?  Hitting people with tear gas on an open street is one thing, but in the confines of a staduim with limited number of egresses?

What I am talkin about is all the chaos you see at these games.  And I am not just mentioning just this one but all the ones you see in Europe as well.  I have yet to see a major sporting event in the US like the ones you have.  See we celebrate by rioting in the streets "After a major championship" where you can't get crushed as easily. Doing massive amounts of damage to local commerce, and tipping over squad cars.

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

The only trouble of your post is the "generalisation"  not all football fan behave this way.
But as football is a sport for the masses you are likely to have bad people the percentage is perhaps low but they are realy violent.

And in this particular case (like the Heysel (sp?)) the trouble was due in large part because of the bad infrastructure.

I'm just waiting for RAM to chip in about how the worst football (sorry, 'soccer') fans are English.

Because for the most part, the riots you see after major US sporting events are carried out by suburban white kids with something to prove.  They are too chicken-shit to start something at the actual event, where there is a risk of being confronted by the authorities or getting their bellybutton kicked by a supporter of the other team.

Instead they take to the streets and Break Stuff, prolly humming some weak Limp Bizkit song as they do it.

Heh, there are major works out on the soccer culture and the fan culture and I can only refer to them.

In short, soccer is a passion, not just a day out where you watch fat dudes bounce into each other while you have an excuse to drink beer. There are amazinhunks amongst the fans, and they ruin the experience for everyone but themselves. And they aren't well liked by fans.

Well, I guess that doesn't happen in the states because most people there can be conceiling a gun... hard to riot when the guy in front of you can actually shoot you!

Yes, this was also intended as sarcasm

Can't be true she snore a lot

btw don't forget that because I translate your post (English is not my native language) I can misundertood and mispost (perhaps that harsh was not the right term to use in this case).
So I will now post my  answer in french up to you to find a good translator (hint : avoid web based translator  )

En lisant votre post j'ai cru comprendre qu'il était normal d'avoir un comportement de hooligan lors d'évènements sportifs.
