I dont even bother going the update route anymore.

Manually delete the game from your system. (dont use uninstall for some reason  it wont work. You HAVE to manually delete the game)
Go into the HTC folder and just delete the game.

Reboot computer.

Download and reinstall the entire game fresh
 Reinstall and special sound folders you may have
And your good to go.
