Old Overholt Rye
« on: June 02, 2006, 07:09:48 PM »
Anyone drink this?  It's a rye whiskey.  I recently got a second bottle and a lady at the Virginia ABC (its state controlled) asked me if I was going to buy anymore.  Apparently, I am the only person in months to have bought Old Overholt rye.  Seems the manager is considering not carrying it.  Although, I don't think it probably sells any less than the Jim Beam rye (which I have heard is not so good).  I thought it odd they would recognize me as being the only person who buys that stuff, but then I am used to not being typical.

It's an american whiskey and one of the few remaining rye's originally made in the USA.   It's pretty good neat and mixes well.  I generally drink bourbon.  The reviews are good on the internet and it's a good all around mixable whiskey.  I think its a well kept Northern secret, even though its bottled in Kentucky.

Regards,

Malta

If I don't get rye Whiskey I surely will die

I have Overholt. Basic problem is I'm just not that fond of rye.

Drinking is bad for you.

I drink Vodka, preferably Russian or Polish. I have been known to go for the Dutch Ketel One every once in a while too.

Old Overholt rye is pretty bad. I prefer Beam or Turkey rye.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

I'm not a big whiskey fan, but that makes me want to try it.  :)
