Actually... just re-read your message. I cannot do % sorties.. only % kills... but that is all HTC has used to determine "excessive usage" in the past.

that'll work, wasn't the highlite of the F4U-1C at 20,000 kills? I think with N1K at 14,000 on Aug. 24th, it will surpass the Chog.

F4u-1D did some 28,000 kills one tour (fighter alone)... I think it had some 35k overall. I'll post those numbers too.

I think the N1K2 had about 17,000 fighter kills that same tour.

The truth is, the N1K2 isn't being used much more... its just that the F4u-1C flyers have disappeared. Some people seem to think an arena with less flyers is a good thing as long as it means more diversity. I tend to think HTC might disagree.

Oh yeah, thats when the Navy was new, everyone was launching them from CV's. Now cut that number in half, thats about what you'd get today...

No Rip- I believe the highlight of the Chog was several months above 30k and one month AT 40k kills. Then they perked it in a month that it hit 30k again. Looks to have dropped usage by about 2/3-3/4.

In tour 12 (5 weeks) the Chog had 39515 kills vs 29451 deaths. Tour 13 it had 23,582 kills vs 16,716 deaths. The N1K2, which was the next closest- 13,577 kills vs 11,502 deaths.
The most popular plane had almost twice the kills of the second most popular plane (well, not quite almost, but it was significantly higher).

In recent tours- Tour 16. Chog- 10,392 vs 4,280 deaths. Perking it obviously cut down on usage some. Most popular plane- N1K2 with 18,716 kills vs 15,382 deaths. Second most popular plane was the SpitIX with 15,008 kills vs 15,151 deaths. Third most popluar was LA7 with 10,044 kills and 8,111 deaths. Furthermore, the huge disparity between #1 and #2 really isn't present anymore. The N1K2 only had about 4k more kills than the Spit, which in turn had only 5k more than the La7. So there was an adjustment here- but the N1K2 is nowhere near as dominant in the arena as the C-Hog once was. Will it ever get to that point? Who's to say, but I personally doubt it. It isn't that much better of an all around plane than the LA7 or the Spit, so folks aren't going to fly it as religiously as folks flew the C-Hog.

BTW, Deja- a personal request of mine. You planning on recompiling the "top 100" of all time stats? I'd understand if not, but damn it was cool while it was there

yes, but again, they did not perk it for its K/D ratio, they perked it because of popularity, I just want the developers to be consistent. If N1K surpasses 20%, perk it. Be consistent, not wish-washy.

Yes, I was trying to illustrate it's popularity, I guess I did it wrong because I threw in the deaths stats to. The month before the C-Hog was perked- it had more than twice the kills of the 2nd place plane (the N1K2). The N1K2 hasn't even come CLOSE to having twice the kills of the SpitIX as of yet.

But if the top 2 or 3 together equal or surpass the magic 20%, then what? If those top few are twice as popular than the rest, perk 'em?

A senseless scenario I know, but this could get silly, if it hasn't already. I'm beginning to lean towards an RPS more & more.

Its already compiled, I just need to generate the web pages. I'll probably get to that and tour 17 this weekend. I also have to change a page on tour 14 so wolf37 doesn't feel left out.

To be honest, I'm starting to lean the other way. For a long time I thought the solution would be to yes, perk everything. Well, not really everything, but perk the N1K2 because it was my personal bane

. Now, I'm starting to think that people should be able to fly whatever they want. Part of it is because I went from flying the 109G10 and 190A5 to flying the 190D9, and the 190d9 is a much better killer of N1K2's (at least for me). La7s give me trouble, but they seem to be getting a little less common, comparatively.

I've really come to the conclusion that I was doing something wrong in order for the N1K2's to give me so much trouble. Every single plane has a weakness. The problem is that your favorite plane may not be able to exploit it, and so you have trouble with that plane. When that happens, you start thinking that you want the plane perked, so you don't have to deal with it anymore.

I dunno, this really has no point I guess. All I'm really saying is that I'm really not in favor of perking planes just because they are popular. Everyone pays their money, everyone should be able to fly what they want to. All you have to do (if you don't want to fly that plane) is find a plane that can exploit whatever weaknesses the "most popular" plane has, and fly it instead.
