Now see, there ya go... This is the Joe Lieberman I knew, the one against sex and violence in the media. He was temporarily replaced by the politically avaricious "Joe Leeberman", but it looks like he might be back. Ironically, I could have voted for the old "Joe" on many issues!

Kiren, where do you stand?
To you what constitutes a "violent game"

AH?
Rogue Spear?
Solder of fortune?
Quake?

at what level do you thin violence become too intense (too graphic)

EDIT: And also, do you feel its a person or in the case of folks under say..15 for their parents to regulate what they absorb, or do you think that the Gov should tell us what we need to see and what we do not??

Ya know, the article didn't mention Joe Lieberman once, it just put his picture, backed in fire, up at the top.

leiberman wants love muffin taken off the air because some IDIOT 13 year old set himself on fire because he wanted to try a stunt on the show, dispite the actor DIRECTLY saying NOT to EVER try it AND he was wearing a professional fire suite, the kid decided he should do it anyway with shorts and a t-shirt on..
so the games thing sounds right up libermans ally.

Let the idiots of the world kill themselves. There should be more shows like that. I mean really, what kind of moron would set himself on fire because he saw it on tv? Smells like beavis and butthead.

Darwinian evolution, weed out the idiots, improve the gene pool. That one must show up in the DARWIN AWARDS this month.

I really dont see why they try to control the video/computer game industry because of the so-called "violence" issue.

Rambo, Terminator, Predator, CNN, HBO, Star Trek, Demolition Man, GUNDAM WING, Ren and Stimpy, La Femme Nikita... the list goes on. In all of these regularly shown tv shows, some of them in non-cable services, show people shooting, cutting each other, burning, lobbing grenades at the other guy that usually screams like hell, flying body parts, heck, even BAYWATCH has violence scenes.

Its what makes things SELL (that and naked skin) in the market. As a matter of fact, a child not only experiences MORE violence on these movies and tv shows, but they actually can LEARN stuff on HOW to do it. I dont remember DUKE NUKEM showing me how to make a pipe bomb or how to use the plasma launcher dad keeps in the closet. Let a kid play the most violent computer game for 1 day, ask him what neat tricks he learned that he could do in real life. Most probably they might have learned how to become campers. Show them RAMBO III and they will learn how to make booby traps, knife people, etc, etc.

Its ridiculous. This whole issue is.

So when some kid takes a chainsaw to his little brother because he admires his favorite cartoon actors we should.........?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this thread!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Make him eat it

if the kid does that its because he is CRAZY just plane CRAZY, and he would have done something similar regardless of what Itchy did to Scratchy.

Hey.

I know Americans love freedom.
I know at least some can handle the responsibility that comes with it.

So why the hell allow the government to go ahead and deal with something that is a *parenting* issue. If the parents expect the government or someone else to raise their kid for them, they shouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

I say we remove these parents from the gene pool first, and that should solve the problem.

Sheesh. Scary.

You tell me Santa.  After all, Denmark banned "Power Rangers" after a group of kids kicked another child to death.

Come on now, everyone knows the average American kid is neither smart enough or strong enough to run a common chain saw. I'd expect something along the lines of an environment-friendly, electric, self-cleaning hedger, with an idiot friendly trigger system and and always-sharp-titanium cutting blades for the impatient.
