Corrupting the installation?
« on: June 07, 2006, 01:22:32 PM »
Hi all,

I previously had a problem that I described here .  It was fixed with a full reinstall but came back last night after about 3 hours of play.  Nothing would fix it until I downloaded the latest version and completely reinstalled.  I am wondering if this is related to running a patched version... or something in my system/setup is causing the installation to become corrupted.  I've eliminated the overclocking (about a month ago) and everything else is pretty much the default.  One oddity is that my boot partition is E:.  Just thought I would pass it along

Try deleting your cache folder in your Aces High II folder.  See if that fixes the problem and that will give some indication where the problem lies.

Ok, the problem came back today.  I went ahead and deleted all of the files out of the cache folder, but not the folder itself.  When re-entering the game the cache was built again, but the problem remains.

Just prior to this, I was locked up in the hangar.  By 'locked up' I mean that the clipboard would not allow any function other then the selection of a vehicle/plane.  Couldn't get to tower, quit etc.  Had to Alt-F4 out.

Just to recap, what I see is the game will start, and offline play is fine.  The arenas will load, and I can see the number of players  etc.  When entering an online arena, part of the map/tower loads and then I'm booted to the desktop.

Since this happened without a patch or update this time it may not be a bug so much as a TS issue, so feel free to move the thread.  I can always do another reinstall to fix the issue for the weekend if I have to.

That problem is caused by a field capture. It is fixed for the next patch.

On your other issue, if you still have it, can you zip up your settings folder and email it to us?

OK, I emailed that over to you.

After doing that I went ahead and downloaded the latest version and ran the install.  I didn't uninstall or delete the old version and the problem persists.

Not sure if that makes any sense... but I thought I would squeeze in a sortie before leaving to pick up my wife :D

Just as a follow up, I re-installed the latest version a little while after I posted this last message.  I have not (knock on wood) had any problems thus far.

If it comes up again I will let you know and thanks!
