Some good points, Filth.  The fire egress was one that I'd already been thinking of (it's a subject that's never far from my mind these days), and a very salient point.

I like the idea of brainstorming with contractors.  Especially easy if I just 'happen' to have the ladder set up to go to the attic already.

You really wanna give them a clubhouse?

All you really need is two cardboard refrigerator boxes.

Just plop em down in the backyard and let the kids have at it

Trust me. they will have more fun with a plain ol refrigerator box then a clubhouse you spent thousands on.

They do that stuff already.  The number of intricate pillow forts in our living room...  excellent imaginations.

I'm thinking that building this little clubhouse would be fun and would give the kids some cool memories.  If I had had something with an access tunnel and whatnot as a kid, dang...  that would have been sweet.

Thousands?  Hell no!
