My son just got in from a trip to Six Flags. Got up out of bed to see how he's doing... and his eyeball is swollen. He's severely allergic to cats and apparently the blanket he grabbed in the van was used by them.
The conjunctiva (whites of the eye) is swollen out and around the edges of the cornea. I kid you not, the whites stick out further than the cornea. It looks gross as all hell... Fortunately, I've seen this before back when he was seven or eight years old... dope him up with some anti-histamine and wash it out sterile saline.
I remember the first time we saw this... we took him to the emergency room. I think this is the fourth or fifth time I've had to do this.
Oh well... nothing to do but wait for the medicine to kick in... back to bed.
