First time I'll bother voting, since for the first time a candidate/party has promised to do something that directly affects me (i.e. strike down Alan Rock's gun c-68 gun law).

I'll be voting Alliance here as well.  My mother is a bit of a bible banger, and this is the only thing about Day I dislike, but I'm sure his chief of staff is brow-beating him into not spouting off versus from the bible in every conversation (not that I mind, I just know that it will turn off a lot of the voters).

Funny how we, US, doesn't seem to care who is elected in Canada as much as the Canadians are concerned who is elected in the US. Don't worry you can still come to Florida in the winter and drive 25 in 55 mph zone

Eagler: The only reason we pay attention to the U.S. elections is because we find most happenings in the U.S. amusing.
It has become one big T.V. show.
Besides..ever wonder why a sample of Americans, in a poll, when asked where "Central America" was, answered; "The Midwest" ?
Lack of any interest in their own contry nevermind the rest of the world.

Drive 25 ? LOL we have never had the old "double nickle" on highways like you have had. When you guys wanna drive fast..come up here.
In July don't forget to bring your ski rack.

Igloo.. Not sure who to vote for.
-The Alliance reminds me of a bunch of bible thumping rednecks.
-The liberals...welll   yuck..
(besides the Chretien talks out of the side of his mouth   )
-The NDP... god help us.
-P.C.  well they brought us mulroney and that should mean automatic disqualification

Mix the best NDP and liberals with the best/non-redneck Alliance members and I'd vote for THAT new party.

I'm going Alliance as well, eventhough I don't believe they have enough experience deep in the ranks. I'm hoping for a minority Governement regardless of the winner.

As far as Alliance being "redneck", that's just media slant. Hell I've gone drinking with Premiers of certain Provinces, and I'll tell you what, they're all the same....just average guys. You have to look at the individual, not the party name. The thing about Stockwell Day, he calls it as he sees it. He's a straight shooter and a realist.

Ahaha, Snoopi, I saw that last summer.

It was mid June, and I was walking down King St.  A car with ski racks and poles pulls up beside me and asked me where they could go skiing in Canada.  I was like, "Umm, it's June, and it's +70 degrees out, you could probably do some skiiing in Alberta or B.C.  up in the mountians."

"Oh really, how far is that?" (I'm on the Ontario, Quebec border!)

The only reason Canadians are interested in American politics, other than the reason pointed out by Snoopi, is that it is shoved down our thoat every time we turn the TV on.

The only thing I don't like about Alliance are the fundemental views they have regarding minorities in our society.  They are less liberal towards gays and other lifestyles.

The Liberal party, on the other hand, well.. look at them.  Chretien is embarassing.  As long as Day keeps his personal beliefs to himself and does not express them as a view Canadians share, I would be happy to elect Day.

The NDP, how many seats do they hold? Like 2?

P.C. - They have nobody running worth considering.

Bloc Quebecois - Speaks for itself.

Media Slant ?
The media can't put words into a leaders' mouth.
The Alliance is a bit too bible thumping/fundamentalist to me. I like them as a opposition party. I think that religion and politics should never be mixed. How does Stockwell Day feel about that ?

I also agree the Alliance lack overall experience.
Can't get enough votes to get anything passed ? Hence, nothing gets done at all.

I agree with ya Kats..Give me a minority government any day. It helps impart some "balance".
I lean towards the conservative side of things but the P.C. suck and the Alliance should clean out the "fundamentalists" in their ranks.
That said..I am thinking of voting Alliance because the "pot" needs some stirring up.

Hey.. maybe if the U.S. can have Jessie Ventura we can get Mad Dog Vachon !
After all "Mad Dog" does have the one seemingly required Canadian politician "skill". He was a lawyer.
Hmm... is he alive anymore?

We need Don Cherry for Prime Minister.  That would get things in gear!

Canada has elections and rednecks?  Lord help us.

You guys ought to elect some irate Korean guy that only speaks Korean and French.  That'd be a hoot.

Now play nice up there or we'll start exporting libertarians.

The media can't put words into a leaders' mouth.

Indeed, but they can leave words out so that the intended point becomes twisted to seem like something else.

Here's an example.

I don't think homosexuals should have any rights that exceed those of any minority

Headline in the newspaper:

I don't think homosexuals should have any rights....

Pat Buchanon in the US got nailed to the cross with this type of media reporting. People still think he's KKK down there.

I dive on occasion in Brockville. We should get together some time and take pot-shots at the politicians
