The following movies don't even belong in the top 100 list of war movies:

Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, Windtalkers.

That is all.
Punishr - N.D.M. Back in the air.
8.) Lasersailor 73 "Will lead the impending revolution from his keyboard"

so then navy seals and pearl harbor   do belong?

oh and yeah i think deer hunter belongs, it is the central part of the movie, the war and what it does....

and i have to say personally i hated das boot. hell K19 widowmaker, U571, and crimson tide were "better" sub movies or at least more enjoyment to watch.

Big Red 1

We were Soldiers Once

Patton

Those would be my pick, possibly adding 12 O'Clock High and the Band of Brothers series. For realism in combat scenes, Saving Private Ryan.

For older Cavalry movies, some of the John Wayne flicks like She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. Corney but still good entertainment.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Why is it not a war movie?

I regard 2001: A Space Odyssey opening scene as the FIRST war movie. One side discovers the bone club, smacks the other side down. With a little help from the monolith that sings.
