My mom came by for a visit last week. She brought me a copy of the April 9, 1945 edition of Life magazine. Inside it has two photos of my grandfather, John Brasher. His name isn't in the caption, but Life magazine called my grandmother and informed her that her husband was in the issue and gave her the page numbers. At the time, my mother was about a year and a half old.

He was a paratrooper. He's been dead for close to thirty years now. Cancer got him. He never ever spoke of the war.

What kind of weapons did paratroopers carry? What did they do if they ran into enemy tanks?

That is awesome that your grandfather is in those pictures! What a way to have a memory preserved! One of the coolest things I seen on these boards.

I agree.

Our soldiers are as great as ever.

Its todays general public who cant even begin to fantasise about filling the shoes of that generation

Back then the people at home as well as those abroad pitched in to get the job done.

Now everyone is so self centered people cant even comprehend the meaning of things like sacrifice. Or pitching in to get the job done.

And everyone is interested in "right now"
Evryone expects everything to happen right now. And if it doesnt. they deem it a failiour.

Now instead of pitching in people are more content with whining.

This is by far. The most whiney generation ever
