Exactly. I said I am not defining this by todays standards because many words we use have been corrupted in the recent years. Look at words like 'Gay' or 'Queer'. France's government was collaborating with Germany. Germany's govermnent... well they were in charge of Germany. You might call the French fighters "insurgents" -- only this was open warfare, not some third-world uprising. In open warfare you don't have "insurgents". Those tend to only happen in "peacekeeping" duties. It's a totally different connotation, I'd say.
