Liverpool Win UEFA Cup!!!

I know it won't mean much to our American brothers, but...

WTFG Liverpool! I'm not a fan, but it's good to see an English side do so well in European football.

Score 5-4 (Extra time and golden (own) goal)

A really great game - did anyone see it?

ITs well known that Liverpool is my favorite UK team.

However, I have to say that IMO it was plain bad luck that Alaves did not win it,as they did a best match.

BTW Alaves goalkeeper is pure crap. That helped Liverpool too.

The Alaves defence was shockingly bad, especially in the first half an hour.

And I think Liverpool deserved the win - they played as well as Alaves. And when that defender pulled down Smicer and got sent off, conceding the free kick which resulted in the golden goal - I thought "Justice!!"

The referee had a good game, especially considering the diving which seems to plague continental football.

Well, Deportivo Alaves undoubtedly was dominant in the field (except for the first 20 minutes of course), especially in the mid-field and so I thought they deserved to win (not much attempts to score on the other hand). Liverpool was stronger in the extra time though, so from that perspective they earned their title, endurance is a quality as well isn't it?

Well, there's a lecture on this match which is most important IMO: GOALS

Gone are the 0-0 finals with both teams thinking about nothing but defending... death to the Catenaccio!
