Ok this is from another thread, but the point I am going to make here is that I (as the best Auger/Target drone in AH) would like to have the challenge of landing in high winds ect...

Why, well here is my point...
+ Auto take off
+ Auto Gear retraction
+ Combat Trim
+ One Key Calibration
+ Auto Flap Retraction
+ Crash landing on runway = Successful landing

Yep I use em all, some because I have to, some because I do not see anything for my effort. (yeah I know my own skill will improve but I aint that alturistic)

I would like to make a humble suggestion, and yes I have said it before but I will give you good reason

Change the way perk points and rank are calculated, take into account weather a player uses the
+ Auto take off
+ Auto Gear retraction  (part of auto take off)
+ Auto Fuel tank selection

Also take into account
+ Successful rearms (only after an engagement)
+ Successful landings (only after an engagement)
+ Use of weaker (high eny) aircraft

Give them the option of using
+ Combat Trim
+ One Key Calibration
+ Auto Flap Retraction

And (THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY MIND YOU) fighters with 4 cannons, make it easier to get a kill I would like to see the use of fighters armed with machine guns only taken into account also...

Now my good reason....

Well look at all the complaints about the use of the LA-7's (Yeah I know only three cannons) and the frustration of some long term players...

I am not saying make people play my way, but more along the lines of "hey your putting in effort to fly as realistically as possible, and that should be noted"

I am sure there are long term players who want to more of a challenge and this would give that to them...

Oh what does this have to do with wind, does the Autotake off get a newbie off the ground in a cross wind, I dont know, and as for landing well... we can cross that bridge when we come to it

I know that this would not be easy to impliment but I hope the idea is food for thought

EDIT: I am aware that eny and successful landings are used in the calcualation of rank

After more than thousand take off I use auto-take off because I'm lazy not because I can't take off.

well if you get bounce while doing your auto-takeoff you can't do much.so instead stop being lazy and take off manully!

The problem with this is, once people figured out the workarounds, they'd still do things to milk these additional categories. They'd work a bit harder, but the end result would still be the same, and the loss of their late war uber vulching rides would make some of them a lot more reluctant to fight at all.

FWIW, I don't use autotakeoff much, but not because I'm not lazy. I can't use it because my rudder axis spikes, and auto is normally kicked off the minute my plane starts moving.

I'd be willing to bet that, despite any sort of tweaking or additions to the scoring db,  the long term players would still retain the belief that the scoring system isn't really a good indicator of skill, and those most interested in geniune improvement probably wouldn't care much if anyone else noted their improvements or not.

Hope this doesn't sound like I'm dogging your idea, but these are the reservations I have about reworking scoring/ranking. Some people will always follow the path of least resistance, and that group will negate any improvements or work put into it by HTC, IMO.

Yeah I hear ya Hub

Every time I start trying to flesh-out one of these ideas I know that it probably wont work cause unfortunately there will always be ppl who will screw the system to make them selves look good....

I dont know why they do it, I just cant understand what they get out of having their name in lights when they know they did not earn it...

I guess its some sad attempt to virtually increase the size of their schlong....

Its a pity

Go ahead and modify how score, perks, rank, etc. are calculated.  I will continue to use auto-takeoff because I am lazy and can use the time to go get another beer or recycle the previous one.
