Need a new book recommendation...
« on: June 20, 2006, 09:04:25 PM »
Just finished reading a book and need a recommendation for my next one.

The last 3 books I've read:

A Man On The Moon - A. Chaikin

Lightning Strike - D. A. Davis

The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors - J. D. Hornfischer

I prefer WWII fiction or non-fiction.

Or anything having to do with Naval history from sail to WWII.

Also, any good western novels as well.

Any recommendations?

Dumb but Lucky

A very different view on combat in Europe by a P-51 pilot.

The Fly Boys

What really happened to those guys shot down and didn't return in the same area George Bush got shot down in.

If you want to feel like a kid again:

"Big Red"

"Where the red furn grows"

Probably just cause I read them as a young kid, but I like the cheesy dog/kid books.

So far some interesting recommendations.  Except for you Nuke, go back to your room!

I've already read Fly Boys.  Fire In The Sky was a great read too.

reading is bad for you, it lets other people get into your brain and take over.

Digital Fortress....its from the same author of The Da Vinci Code(Dan Brown).  Its  a fictional story about the NSA and cryptographers.  You'll find yourself unable to put it down once you start reading it.  It has a crapload of plot twists, various info on the NSA and captivating literary descriptive writing.

There is a little know novel that I read in high school by an English author (can't remember his name) called "Six Point Buck."

It's the life story of a roe deer in England...with the author laying out a well defined view of the realities of life in the wild.

Heckuva better read than that sentimental tripe entitled "Bambi."

For a good naval book Sail to WWII, check out "To Rule The Waves" by Arthur Herman.

Just type that sucker in for Amazon, it'll pop right up with hardcover, paperback, etc.
