Has anyone released a decent WWII submarine simulator recently?  The last one I bought/played was Aces Of The Deep and that was quite a while ago.  Is Silent Hunter II any good?

I played MicroProse's Silent Service way back when (on my 286!).  I thought Janes made one, but my bet is it was a sim of new subs.  <scratches head...> you're right, I can't recall any WW2 era ones in a while.

I have that game somewhere but I couldn't get it work in Win98... Good thing is it runs great in my lap-top

Silent Hunter II isnt out yet I dont think.  It is due out later this year and it is supposed to be able to do online play with a game called Destroyer Command also.

Check out this site for a little info and some links that might tell you a little more about it.  www.91st.com

Jane's made one called 688(i) Hunter Killer. It's not too bad (get the patch) but all in all it's better than most sub sims out there. Sonalysts is working on one called Sub Commander that should really kick butt. SimHQ has an interview with them up on their main page. Just scoll down to find it.

Ya know Rosco...if you werent in Canada and international shipping wasnt such a squeak I would be glad to send you a copy.  I ordered a copy from Amazon.com a while back and because of a shipping mix-up, they sent me 2 of them and never gave me info to ship the extra one back to them.

This is something that is SOOOOOOO easy to add the WBIII, yet very few in the community seem to want it and would have the patience to run one on-line.

Think how much time you would spend tracking down the enemy fleet. Be boring for most.

I think it would be a great addition even if not popular with the masses.

I would enjoy it.
