You mechnic types, question

If a Chevy Astrovan hits at Ford Probe in the front left fender at about 10MPH, could that possibly cause the boot on the CV axle to break?

I ask because my friend had a little oopsy the other day and did exactly that, and I had to replace my CV axle today.  The break in the boot looked fairly new and the accident occured on Wednesday night.  I only point to that incident because it also screwed up my alignment, which i'll have to do Monday, hopefully.

Yes it can, altho it probably happened earlier. You're lucky both aren't totaled.

Yup completly agreed with RPM.  I had an 88 Berretta GT that "hit" a gutter going 45 and bent the rim.  IN the following 6 moths just about every component on that side broke and had to be replaced starting with the CV joint.

Replaced CV joint and lower ball bearing today.  Have another ball joint going too I think, boot is broken but "it's still good" because it wasn't super wobbly.  It's gonna end up being a nice long and expensive repair process.

If I am not mistaken, the moon was in the last quarter phase on Wed which prompted Nostradamous to predict that the boot would fail from critical damage.

Seriously, it could have probably happened from less speed and impact.

Believe it or not those types of repairs are actually easy.  I say this now but 10 years ago I had no clue.  Get with the automotive/stoner crew and have them do it for you in exchange for some homwork or something.

No, the ones who get smart and quit being stoners make 60 bucks an hour.  The rest of them work at Jiffy Lube.

If a Chevy Astro and a Ford probe hit hard enough to get stuck together..would you call it an Assprobe?

I'd call it 5pm traffic at Lynnhaven and Holland.
