FSO #60 - Frame 1 - AAR
« on: June 24, 2006, 12:31:23 PM »
Great FSO guys!
My thanks to all those who organized it and participated.
For a first time as CM you did a heck of a job CRETON!   :aok

The idea of a sub-plot (Hartmann vs. Thompson) was also
an outstanding addition.  Added another dimension to the
campaign !

My apologies to the squads tasked to fly Me262s.
It seems I misread the orders concerning the available
bases for this aircraft.  Nevertheless, you guys figured it out
and fixed my error.  Thank you.

Overall, I had a great time!
It seemed like there were good fights everywhere and on
this map it was easy to draw in reinforcements to the
hottest areas as well!  Very adrenalinergic! (is that a word?  LOL).

Any my gratitude goes out to THE DAMNED who pledged their
planes and their lives to keep me safe.

I was flying as ERIC HARTMANN.  I had the misfortune of
accepting an HO from a Tempest hoping I could pop him
...he got my oil instead.  I managed to successfully
ditch but I stayed on the ground too long (typing on 150)
and my pilot died (but I wasn't wounded...::furious ).

To all the Axis bomber groups - exceptionally well done!
You leveled those bases despite some spirited defenses.
And escorst were all reported to have done an excellent
job as well.  Its not easy escorting but the reports I
received were all glowing.  Well done!

And congrats go out to DJ111 (9GIAP VVS RKKA) who was
Axis Top Gun with 5 kills! :p
And to Robo (Fighters Inc) of the Allies who got  7!

Can't wait to see what country won. :)
Anyway, I hope that everyone had a great time!   all!

That was my first ever FSO and I had a BLAST. Thank you 332nd Flying Mongrels for letting me fly with you.

I actually managed to get 2 kills and an assist! Woo!  Then I got blood all over my windshield and needed to take lots of naps.

I really like the FSOs and will hopefully be able to participate in more structured events.  The MA is fun, but the 'free-for-all' can get a little tiring sometimes.

Mongrels and to everyone who participated.

IMHO, the MA is a game, more like an
arcade game than a simulation.

The FSO is a historical simulation.
I LOVE it!

Its like Advanced Aces High!

Very nicely done Delta, especially with the short time frame you had.

Also, would like to Salute! the VMF101 Nightmares, that was the best escort I have witnessed in the last couple of years. Not only did we make it to target, but made it through a second time and was able to hit a secondary target fon a third flight.  From my recollection, none of the AK's were blasted from the sky, a few had to bail from their number 1 plane do to fuel/oil leaks.

Again, the AK's "Salute" the MGD and crew for the an outstanding escort

I also asked our guy's when have you ever seen an escort group stick with a flight of buffs through three re-arm's & attacks.  Nobody could come up with a single example.

So I credit the com's between our squad's and the way the orders were designed.  That was a blast!

I wish to heap and pile praise upon praise on the head of 96Delta.:aok

I have rarely seen such an active and communicative CO in an event.  I have rarely seen such a positive CO in an event.

I have never seen a set of orders produced like that PDF!:O

Anybody putting a team together for an upcoming scenario - draught this guy immediately!  He has skills fantastico.:)
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

Thanks Dantoo!

It was a pleasure to put that package together for
you guys!  I always try to make my orders look
a little 'historical' to help my squad members get into
the feel of the event.

As far as being communicative, I like to maintain a
good grasp over what is going on so I can better
coordinate resources to achieve our strategic
objectives.  I know I was getting really 'talkative'
on channel 150!  The room started spinning there
at one point.

Still, none of that would have been possible without the
cooperation and reports that Axis squads gave me.
Thanks for making the task a bit easier!

Of course, being taken out of action somewhat early
made it possible for me to focus on the coordination
and communication aspect of the C.O.'s responsibilities.
Had I been in flight and engaged, I know I wouldn't
have been able to devote my time and attention
on that aspect of things.  So dieing early had its
advantages. :lol

So that's the lesson for future Frame C.O.s - DIE QUICKLY!  ;)

Looking forward to Frame 2!

Thanks again for the kudos!

David

Dantoo, I tried to recruit 96Delta to CO the IJN in the upcoming Operation Downfall scenario.

I think he is capable.  He doesn't seem to think he has the time.

If he had a talanted XO to assist him, it might change his mind *cough Dantoo Cough*

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

ROFL  nice hit back!

I will go read it up but I have got a busy period coming up that may dictate against me committing for anything.

Seriously, if you didn't see a copy of those orders as per the pdf get hold of them.  He clearly doesn't need a lot of time.  If he pulled that together in 3 hours he's a bleeding genius.
