Need a laptop
« on: June 26, 2006, 02:18:01 PM »
Posted this in SOB's thread...at the moment I'm probably just going to get another dell.  I had an inspiron 1100 that worked great for years but won't run AH2.  I require this so I can perform CM duties when I'm stuck in hotel rooms a couple nights a week for work.

I'm not going to build it

I'm poor thus need to finance it.

Saying Dell is crap does no good without references, proof, evidence or at least a notarized summary of a crystal ball reading.

Thanks!

JTs thanks.  I personally haven't had any problems with Dells.  Everybody else's problems have been something that happened to a friend or something they've heard.  Glad to hear yours is going strong.

I still can't believe you made it to Phoneix from VT in 48 hrs.

I'm going to go with a dell that will run AH well.  Doesn't have to be as well as my desktop (as mentioned...i'm poor!) but I need to be able to do CM duties while stuck in a hotel room working.

$999 P-M 1.7 (up to 2.6), MXM 128M 6600go (upgradable), 15" WXGA (supposedly the real estate of a 19" crt)... I got mine 6 mos ago for $1500 w/1G RAM, the 6600go overclocks 450/750 no problem, plays AH with WMP or QCD running in the background.

You can oder just about any upgrade you want from PC Club, new MXM GPU, upgrade the cpu even add a duo core mobo or screen later down the line. These vanallia books are like Lego.

It came with zero bloatware, just a basic XP install.

If you plan on using it as an everything machine at home, I'd get a seperate sound card... the 2.1 sounds just fine, but its still 2.1. I added a Turtle Beach Roadie.
