IE issue
« on: July 02, 2006, 04:21:15 PM »
a couple weeks ago my browser started acting weird.

if I click on a link it sometimes acts as if it's opening the link in a new window and shutting down the original window.  so I end up where I was wanting to go but I can't simply hit back to get to the previous page.

it doesn't happen all the time.  I have no problem on this BB, I can go to a post and then back to the index page.  but on some pages, mostly pages with video files, you can click on the videos, but after you watch the clip you have to use history or enter the URL to get back to the index.

not a huge issue but it gets to be a pain when you get 2 or 3 pages into an index of clips and have to work your way back after each clip.

any ideas?

I promise this will end all your IE problems:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

Otherwise, I'd check for infection as it sounds like something is trying to hijack your browser.

http://www.avast.com offers an outstanding free virus app, and an on-line viri checker. Could be some hostile java, or other IE exploit.. as always check for fixes... and the usual spyware scan, ad aware is free from lavasoft.com

If you're already running a viri / spyware app and all that, uh... seriously use Firefox anyway. Faster, better features...like the bugmenot plug in... and cooler. Chicks will dig you.

Not to mention tabbed browsing. So each new link you open opens in a new tab on the same window. Leaving the original window intact.

thanks.

I gave firefox a try and really like it.

for IE I've been using IEspell.  a spell checker add on for text boxes so my natural spelling ability doesn't shine through my posts and make me sound any more ignorant than I really am.

any simular tools for firefox?

BTW, I'm not just a bad speller but also increadably cheap so free would be a very good price.
