You gotta admit.. those planes do look nice.

I'm curious to see what this game looks like when it is finally released.

The game looks good, but not that good.
This guy did some weird procedure of taking pictures of he`s screen with a digital camera, than editing them with photoshop.

Impressive,very impressive....

my first attempt (i'm at work, so these are rushed and using a lo res 16bit setting in AH) the more colors and the better FPS the more realistic i can get these images.

plus, IL2 is a little more eye-candy-ish than AH is. not comparing here, just experimenting!!

First one looks good, last one has too much blurring on the background.. almost gives me motion sickness.

couple more...man, that guy from Il-2 is right, you throw away about 90% of what you take!

It's hard to get really good stuff, i've been asking around for some good AH films of close close A2A combat. post films here if you have any.

i have these in 1600x1200 if you would like a desktop version.

those are really good mason. was wondering how AH would look.. icons ruin it in the one though.

I'll take a nice 109f at 1280 x 1024 please  :)

The boxy nose of the LA7 kinda ruins it IMO.
Nice try mason, but IL2 still looks better.

Mason, you have a private message.

And don't get put off by the title "instructional" films on that link I sent you... they are actual combat films.

I am impressed with this imaging technique, but not especially with IL-2. Using this technique with AH gets results comparable to IL-2. The photos look especially good with a Voodoo 5500 in x4 anti-aliasing at resolutions greater than 1024 x 768.

Like IL-2 with the correct angle against the best background, digital photos of AH screens are almost indistiguishable from actual photos.

The trick to making AH photos look good:

1. Use terrain with photoreal textures: both the land and the water in Europe look great if you don't catch any of the sharp ridgelines and repetitive patterns.

2. Choose angles and ranges that hide AH flaws, such as blockhead pilot and octagonal looking cowlings.

3. Choose aircraft that have photoreal textures. The P-51B and F4U-1 are my personal favorites.

4. Tweak your camera settings to get the optimum exposure time, focus, etc.

The results can be staggering.

I wish all the AH planes had textures as good as the P-51B and the F4U-1. Sadly, the most popular American planes have also been around the longest and therefore have the most cartoonish textures. I hope someday HTC makes some time to bring some of the older aircraft graphically up to date.
