2nd Patches
« on: July 03, 2006, 11:48:46 PM »
Evening all.  Just wanted to speak up for 2nd Patches if nobody has done her.  I am attaching a couple of pics.  1st is in skin viewer.  2nd is profile of her.  3rd is wartime photo.

Lord Guppy, anything specific I need to know about her?  Specific colors?  Mission Insignia?  You will see that I have only started the very basic process.  Skin is probably 1/5th done.  Not too late for me to stop her if someone else has spoken for her.

1) is the white a placeholder for future bare metal?

2) was there bare metal on both wings, or is the color profile incorrect?

3) I like it! Excellent choice!

The other side of 2nd Patches.

Seems like you've got it RedHawk :)  Also seem to remember we talked about this bird a while back on this board.

Evenin Krusty,

The white field is accurate as is (I believe.)  No bare metal holder.

I believe that the color profile is wrong.  Bare metal replacement on the leading edge of the right wing to under wing stopping prior to airleon.  Also a replacement door that is bare metal on right rear fuselage.  All other leading edges on the left wing and elevator are rimmed in black.

Thanky sir.  I was drawn to the white fields and the sharkmouth forward gun position.  I have been wanting to do something in OD.  I found the OD, White, and Red a nice balance.  Should be fun to work on :aok

As always Ur Guppyness, your library is astounding.  I thought she had come up on the boards before which is why I was wanting to ask if she was started.

I really appreciate the opposite side view of her.  Answered a couple of questions that I had regarding mission insignia and such.  I will post a new thread on her in a day or so if nobody claims her

Gonna save that pic to my working library

Looking at the stab and the wing in the B&W photos it looks BMF to me. The color profile could be interpreted as BMF as well.

Krusty, you very well could be right.  The more I look at those specific areas the more it looks bare metal.  This is a great thing if true!  I was wanting more metal showing on her and even though I was first drawn thinking it was white..bare metal rocks with OD!

Im also tinkering with a new technique to add more heat damage to the paint from the engines (very worn with a burned effect, making the paint covering much thinner in areas.)

Anyway, I will look more for the specific answer to the color.  However, I think you are correct.

The vertical stabilizer and rudder were BMF or silver.  There are clearly replacement, unpainted BMF panals on the right wing.  The place for the black deicer boots shows BMF where the boots have been removed.

The crew entry door on the right side is also a replacement BMF door.

Lots of rough finish to that bird :)
