Wow.
Gore lost Florida by roughly eleven thousand votes. Thus, Bush snagged Florida's 25 electoral votes putting him at 271... one more than needed to win the election.
If Gore had won Florida, he would've been at 274 electoral votes, 3 more than needed to win... leaving Bush with just 246.
The margin in Florida - again, roughly 11,000 votes.
How many did Ralph Nader get in Florida? About 95,000 votes (votes that can safely be assumed are left leaning, ie Gore votes).
In a nutshell, Ralph Nader... enemy to everything that is right wing, in essence, put one in the White House.
I happen to think he is a naive, self serving fool, whose campaign was nothing more than a stunt. Just my humble opinion. Now look what he just did.
Btw, my first memory of Nader was when I was about 10 years old, watching Nader on some Sunday kid's program, warning people about the dangers of microwave ovens.
In the irony of ironys.... It turns out that, contrary to predictions, Gore might end up winning the popular vote (majority of people voting for him), yet loses the electoral college.
All in all, a fascinating election. Leave it to the Yanks, and yer always guaranteed a good show

----edit------
Holy sheeat! Gore getting ready to make his concession speech - and we find out that the margin in Florida is now as slim as 600 to 700 votes.... falling under the number required to trigger an automatic recount.
Unbeleivable! Bravo Yanks! No wonder you guys are basically the entertainment capital of the world!
