"Three British Muslims have been killed in action while fighting with the Taliban.
The men, two from Luton and one from Crawley, were killed during US-led bombing raids on the Afghan capital Kabul.

The deaths of Aftab Manzoor, 25, and Afzal Munir, in his early 20s, both from Luton, and Yasir Khan, from Crawley, were confirmed by Hasan Butt, leader of the al-Muhajiroun in Lahore, Pakistan.

He told the Associated Press: "All of them had gone to Afghanistan in early October to wage jihad, (holy war) against the unjust policies of America.

"We have learned from our contacts that they were martyred by the American bombing on Wednesday."

Muslims in Luton are in shock at the news but fears are growing among the 20,000 Muslims of a racist backlash after pictures of Manzoor's address were published in the local newspaper.

Some friends of Manzoor, a courier, insisted he must have died in a car accident while visiting his wife and baby daughter in Pakistan, rather than during a US bombing raid."

There must be many more of these 'British' muslims over there right now. The Foreign Office was powerless to stop suspected Taliban-fighter-wannabes from leaving the country due to human rights issues (they were travelling to Pakistan).

In a few weeks or months time they'll be shooting at British forces. I only hope they are captured and tried for treason (even though we abolished the death penalty for treason 3 years ago).

Lemme get this straight. These numpties come to Britain, leech off the British tax payer for God knows how long and then sod off to Afganistan to shoot at British soldiers?

Do they seriously expect to be let back in when it's all over? If they survive......

Of course Swoop.

But they'll be sent to Bradford, well away from London or Surrey. Or maybe Glasgow. Can you say 'cultural meltdown'?

These Islamic fundamentalists are a real problem around where I live. Pakistani women support groups are sent hate mail detailing how they are 'corrupting' Pakistani youth with Western influences. They are called prostitutes.

When you enter my country, I don't care what religion you practise provided:

a) You learn English and teach English to your children as their first language

b) Abide by our laws and particularly those laws that protect our civil rights.

There's a lot of ill-feeling and resentment of Pakistani people around here - it's sometimes hard to avoid getting caught up in it. It's a real 'them and us' situation at times, especially recently.

If during WW2, three British citizens had gone to fight for Germany and were killed in say, the battle for Dunkirk fighting against your fellow countrymen. What would have happen if a predominately Germany neighborhood in England raised up to revenge their deaths?

soon after Pearl Harbour the USA rounded up all Japanese immigrants into camps.

Now as much as I'd love to do the same right now to any and all Arabs, Islamics and general layabouts, I'm sure the damn European Court of Human Rights would have something to say about it.

But that wasn't the question I asked. I'm wondering what the British would have done in WW2 given what was repoted in todays news. I would think that some portion of Britain Muslims population are not going to be very happy at the news of their Heroes death.

Just watched a nice BBC documentary on how *wonderful* the Taliban Regime is. Lotsa public executions, women being flogged for any ole reason and the list goes on.

Amazing how folks fret over a few civilian casualties while the folks in NYC still pick up pieces of 6,000+ human remains. Its too bad they do not show the carnage at ground zero, maybe that would wake some people up and realize that this world isn't a big "happy-feel good-group hug" kinda world. Barney the Dinosaur is extinct, and his dopey "We love you" followers need to get with it.

newguy - a very hypothetical question. I don't think there has ever been a German community comparable in any size to the largely Pakistani communities around Sheffield and Rotherham (where I live). And certainly not in Bradford.

I can't see there being an uprising over this. Perhaps there might be more riots in Bradford, but they were happening before all this started.

The asian communities in Britain (whether Indian, Pakistani, Afghani or whatever) are pretty scared right now because recent developments in Afghanistan. Racists don't descriminate, it would seem.

As for the two 'conditions for citizenship' - the British government already demands the latter one, naturally, and there are likely going to be new regulations about language introduced in the upcoming changes to Assylum seekers legislation.

Cabby - have I ever said 'I am a liberal'? I don't think I have. Largely because I don't subscribe to the narrow minded pigeon holing which demands that you are either on one side of the argument or the other.
