Creepy article.

Two years ago I met, for what I think is the first time, a sociopath. Worked in the same place as me.

No empathy, no remorse - incapable of any feeling whatsoever.

Very charismatic though. Very charming. A robot. And stone cold dead.

This dude scared the bejesious out of me.

They're like pitbulls.

They can be very friendly. And they don't turn around and kill you on a whim. Until they do.

I've known for a long time that there are folks out there who are capable of most any act that can be imagined and not feel a bit of regret about it other than they could have done it better. In short these people are just what you could describe as evil, totally self centered and everything outside of themselves and their desires is expendable.

I don't believe there is a cure for it since in many cases like the article said, it is a clear calculating and voluntary choice to behave in that manner. All you can do is seperate them from the rest of society to protect society from them.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

It's not just those two...

Laid-Off Zoologist Goes On Tranquilizing Rampage[/SIZE]

SAN DIEGO—Twelve San Diego Zoo visitors and two employees were brutally sedated Monday, when laid-off zoologist Dr. Brian Vermeer, 41, returned to his former place of work armed with a tranquilizer gun and began firing into a crowd. "It was kind of horrible," said Maria Christopher, 44, who witnessed the tranquilizing spree. "People were gently falling asleep over the course of 20 to 30 seconds everywhere." The spree ended when Vermeer turned his gun on himself, knocking himself out for half an hour.

I wonder how much grant money those scientists got for figuring out that the guys who did the columbine killings were sociopaths?   Good thing they have the global warming cash cow to go to now.

Definitely a good read. I have the utmost respect for the FBI but I doubt their profiling techniques sometimes. Remember the initial profile that was disclosed regarding the Washington D.C. Sniper(s) case. White male, 25 to 35 years of age, probably involved in an extremist para-military organization, racist, military background, and the infamous white truck. They weren’t even in the same ball park with that one. John Edwards could have guessed and bs his way to a better profile on that case. Anyways, thanks for the post.

According to a radio show I listened to during a very long drive route 81 in Virginia (heading to Blacksburg, where I spent the weekend blasting away at various inanimate targets with a brand new Mossburg 500, but that's another story), Sociopathic disorder is found in something like 3% of men. If this is true, I'd doubt this guy was the first one you've run across.

Nevertheless, I'm really curious, what sort of behavioral traits gave him away? What sort of stuff did he do, or didn't do, that lead you this conclusion? Feel free to go into depth, I'm curious as all hell about this personality disorder.

I blame the students parents.  If the parents had not provided them with the money to get weapons, a lack of moral and ethical standards (i.e. church, social responsibility, care for others), and the time to plan the massacre with unsupervised internet access it would not have happened.   Ah, but it's easy to blame the parents.

I don't hold much regard for secondhand psychoanalysis of the dead.
