I don't know if I like sparks. Doesn't seem there'd be so many as to obscure the aircraft you're aiming at, like that.

remember that i'm trying to simulate a cloud of smoke and small debris from each hit sprite in a very basic way to show what i mean.

i have watched countless 50cal and HE gun cams and there is always a huge cloud of instant smoke and particals for the first, and huge exploding puffs of smoke around the cannon hits.

the pictures show each hit sprite disintergrating rather than apearing and disapearing.

In real life your vision of the plane would be very much obscured by debris and the shock of the impacts on the aircrafts skin.

remember also that it would only obsucre the aircraft for a tiny tiny moment as the debris would flutter away to nothing in the slipstream.

our sprites are too big, last to long as a solid shape, are always the standard sprite for the weapon class, and dont look all that real.

MOSQ posted these...   I don't see much small debris, I'm sure theres some - but looks like mostly med to large chunks falling off...more smoke from the impact..flashes look ok.

1942: Pacific Air War had a similar effect.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

thats the main gist of my point.

a small hitsprite of exact shape and size to each and everyone is need to proove what rounds hit. but as soon as one frame of this has been made screenshot-able it isnt needed.

it looks too defined, needs more carnage.

look at those guncams, or any other ones. even small calibre ammo makes a large puff or particle debris.   i mean a fine dust or puff of smoke, as this is what the particle cloud looks like.

We plan to revisit effects and animation in the future but CT has our attention now.  If do another effect before then it would only be if a window of time surprisingly opened up in Nate or SF's schedule.

Remeber many years ago when WB changed their hit sprites. They looked very nice actually, much like debree falling off instead of the AH hit sprites/flashes.

AH 30mm looks very nice though.

Of course, that would be the only thing WB holds over AH.

Would definatly be nice with some new effects. But I want CT more then new effects :)

well in wwii online (yeah go ahead and say it) when you fired your mgs and it hit the plane a puff of smoke and plane parts (small) would come off the plane where u hit, when you fired ur cannons a small puff of fire and smoke would come off the plane, alot like the films waffle posted. Instead of that white flash all the time. Also if your wing is hit enough to were it is damaged but not falling off, your plane wanted to lean to that side when you try to go straight or turn, unlike in this game if the wing doesnt fall off then the plane is ok. Every game has its ups and downs, some games have better features than others, im not siding with WWII Online over Aces High II...if i want good air battles i come here if  i want tanks i go there.
