Yak9T has a 37MM, one that has a better trajectory, range, and ballistics, and it flies a lot better than the P39 ever did.

That being said, P39 is one of the most requested aircraft out there. I think because of the sheer volume of requests, we'll see it. Some day.

Can't exactly sub a Yak-9 for a P-39 in an early Pac setup.

Don't know why the Airacobra gets such a bad rap, it was pretty decent below 20K.

I think it was always supposed to be a front line fighter.  IIRC some of the bad rap it got was because it had some peculiar handling characteristics due to the engine being in the back.  Felt weird to the experienced pilots.

From what I understand, the American pilots thought they'd be unable to bail out of a damaged plane due to the P-39's unusual gull-wing door on the cockpit.

General Yeager flew it and thought it was a fine plane.  He points to the success the Russians had with it to support this opinion.

Most of the USAAF pilots who started out on it and later became aces said that it was a great plane to fly, but they wouldn't have wanted to go to war in it.

Some USAAF groups had moderate success with it, mainly over New Guinea (like the 8th FG), but on the whole it didn't fit the American style of combat.

I REALLY hope to see it though, both for the early war setup in the Pacific and for use by the Russians. Had it in WB, was great low level fighter and ground pounder. Could pull some nasty tricks once you got the hang of it, and that armament package is lethal when you don't have jamming modelled.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.
