Let's look at a series of gun camera stills... You will note that what you see in the gun camera stills is well duplicated in AH2.

i know i usually wisecrack, and i know you are only joking...

but that is a real guy with a family who is getting blown apart by a round in that pic, pretty sad really when you think about that poor guy in the cockpit, who's death is caught forever on camera like that.

Hard to say. Given the angle and the "blot" location it could have passed diagonally in front of the pilot too, or be deflected by cockpit framing. Bf109s had small cockpits, but there is stuff besides the pilot in there, including air.
